Self-report:

             Smartphone App usage/pattern observations
motivation

                        ease of use
I had an interesting opportunity to observe my App
usage before and after an iOS update.
motivation

                         ease of use
Before iOS update.
motivation

             ease of use
What was interesting was that the iOS update ‘logged
me out of a number of Apps requiring me to re-log in
motivation

                             ease of use
I use 1Pass, so my passwords are typically 12 characters,
             that I do not memorize
motivation

                           ease of use
Due to a crunched schedule (motivation vs. ease)
             the circled apps remain inactive
motivation

                        ease of use
After iOS update.
motivation

             ease of use
Most surprising:
I have been using the native camera app
in the iPhone, or the photo option built
             into twitter/foursquare for photos
motivation

                        ease of use
Also surprising:
I use Pinterest when I am spent. Mindless, relaxing.
As my stress level has been up, with little down time,
I am surprised I have not logged in as Pinterest has been
motivation

             stress reliever in the past.

                         ease of use
Most annoying:
FB mobile sucks. Logging in was a bitter process,
motivation

too much communication coming through to
ignore mobile app. Logged back, even though
It would be my preference to delete.

                         ease of use
Conclusion:
When ‘ease-of-use’ is disrupted, app use habits can be thwarted
motivation

quite easily. And the need they might have fulfilled is replaced.

There is no way for these apps to ‘reach out’ to me to
trigger logging in…or is there? And if there was would it work?
