Current Event Summary Revised*
In our current event presentation on chapter one, The Horizontal Revolution, we plan to focus
on the four zones of social media. We will begin with a video about social media in 2014, to get the class
thinking about the changing world of social media. After a short discussion about the video, we will then
ask the class to tweet, or post a Facebook status that is related to Hump Day (Wednesday); we plan to
look at these posts at the end of class to see what kind of buzz the statuses and tweets brought in. We
then plan to discuss the four zones of social media. First we will introduce all four and link to an example
for each. Then we will discuss each zone separately and in more detail. After which the class will be
asked to name as many examples of any of the four zones of social media as they can, but they only
have 45 seconds to do so. The student with the most written down will receive a prize! To conclude we
will have the class check their statuses and tweets, and let us know if they had any type of response.
