Dr. Sir Ziauddin Ahmed former Vice Chancellor & Rector of Aligarh Muslim
University was an eminent mathematician, atop educationist and above all
a very great humanitarian and benefactor of the Muslims of Indo Pakistan

3. Ziauddin Hospital
Introduction of the hospital:
The Dr. Ziauddin Group of Hospitals is one of the largest groups in Pakistan,
which is functioning under Dr. Ziauddin Trust. The hospitals provide medical
treatment and care.
Five hospitals operating across Karachi totaling over 600 beds provide medical
care. Keeping pace with latest diagnostic technologies and medical and surgical
treatment. Departments of Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicines. The
hospital have one of the Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging Departments in Pakistan.

4. The Nuclear Medicine Centre at the North Nazimabad and Clifton campuses are

Energy Commission licenses both centres. The North Nazimabad centre was the first
nuclear medicine facility in the private sector. The nuclear medicine services provided
include: Bone Imaging, Thyroid Scan, Brain Scan / SPET / PLANAR, Cerebral Perfusion
Studies, Thallium or Tetrofosmin Spect Myocardial Perfusion Study, Gated Cardiac Spect
and Radioisotope Ventriculography for ejection fraction, Liver and Hepatobiliar Imaging,
Renal Study (DTPA, DMSA), infection Imaging, Thallium / Tetrofosmin scan in
malignancies, Bone Marrow Imaging with Nanocolloid, GI Bleeding and Detection of
Ectopic Gastric Mucosa, Scintimammography with TC Terofosmin scan for the detection
of Breast Cancer and Radioisotope treatments of Toxic Goiter Thyroid Cacer,
Painfulbone Secondaries, Polycythemia and Haemophiliac Joint.
The Department of Surgery is a modern tertiary care facility catering to the needs of the
city as well as other regions. Consultant surgeons trained in institutions of UK and USA
with experience in urology, endocrine and gastrointestinal surgeries manage the
department. Beside routine surgeries a specialized endoscopic surgery unit in urology
and general surgery is operational with a record of success in gallbladder and prostate
surgeries. A dialysis unit is also available with separate unit catering to Hepatitis B&C
positive and HIV positive patients. Emergency services are provided round the clock.
Peritoneal dialysis is facilitated for patients unstable for hemodialysis.
5. The Department of Medicine, along with endocrinologist, caters to a wide
spectrum of conditions supported by intensive care unit(ICU).
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology – a 24-hour service to deal with
emergency obstetrical problems has been established.
The Department of Cardiac Surgery is operational since 1999 and caters to variety
of Cardiac Surgical Cases.
The Department of emergency care through highly incompetent casualty staff with
a 24-hour backup of cardiologists and Coronary Unit. Echo Colour Doppler along
with routine ECG and exercise prompt diagnosis. The Department is staffed with a
team of cardiologists that provide 24-hour services to the patients.

In this campus there are two main departments
that entertain patients
1. E.R (emergency):
• is open or available/accessible 24/7
• the doctors that attend the patients are
C.M.O (casualty medical officer) or his
associates may be M.B.B.S , trainee ,F.C.P.S
and H.O (house officer).
9. 2. O.P.D (out patient department):
• is open or available/accessible in different
timings and they vary e.g 9am-12pm ,2-
5pm,6-10pm.
• the doctors that attend the patients are
private consultants.
10. Controlling (Admission)
This process starts from initial fees, and there are
two categories in patients i.e;
1. Private patient: he just pay the admission fees
and meetup with the admission requirements
and is eventually allotted with room/common
ward for his treatment.
2. Patients on Panel : this patients is associated
with private or a government
firm/sector,holding a health card,he represent
11. that card to I.P.D(in-patient department)
counter or company counter,after approval
from the particular company ,it is further
processed and the panel patient is provided
with a yellow card from the hospital ,his
payments are to be done via that card .
• After getting fees paid ,the hospital gives a slip
to the patient and also issues a file of medical
record which is updated in M/R Department.
12. • When the payment of PKR 3000 is made at
the admission time by any patient,he can avail
these services for 7 days, that includes:
