I’m no different than anyone else. I get tired. I get stressed. Life gets chaotic and my poor office looks like a war zone. By the end of the day, there are so many items on my desk I barely have room for my laptop. When life gets hectic and unmanageable, it’s time to take back control and get back to be productive and happy.
Here are some tips on how to stay organized at work and get back on track.

Excellent presentation to increase the productivity / work culture in the organization and develop the attitude with full of commitment among the employees and higher officials.
Agile teams operate in the context of an organization, whether it's a small start-up or a global corporation. Organizations that are clear about why they are in business will have a mission identified that expresses what they're all about. A great mission can provide the spice that transforms a team from one that delivers features and projects, to one that passionately delivers business value with fire-breathing intensity. This session will explore how you can utilize the mission of an organization to spice up a team's work, and how a team with a great mission behind it can influence agility throughout an organization.
How is it possible that a seemingly highly skilled team struggle to meet business deadlines whilst a team of average skilled professionals consistently deliver value to their client? Do the skills of the team members have any outcome on the delivery of the team? Of course they do, but without the secret sauce even the best team will fail. The uncomfortable truth is that human beings do not do ANYTHING unless they are sufficiently motivated to do so, despite what they may say they will do. Unfortunately, in most organisations, people learn to say what their managers want to hear and then still proceed to do the opposite. Why do people do this? In this talk we will explore how an Agile approach makes average teams become great teams through the injection of one vital ingredient: motivation. We will explore how an Agile approach gets people in all kinds of industries (not only developers!) become motivated to be successful without them even realizing it. The key principles of Agile that, probably coincidently, addresses the fundamentals of human motivation, will be uncovered.

Career people are often very competitive and have to work hard to get promoted or find better career opportunities. They often ask themselves: What will I achieve in the next 5 years?
In contrast, people who just choose a job simply don't care what title they have, but just want to earn money to support themselves. The rest of the time they use to pursue their own passions or hobbies.
People who choose a career can hold a variety of jobs when they are promoted, have more experience, demand higher wages, and continue to work hard. Job pickers can also have multiple jobs, but these jobs are sometimes unrelated.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my talk on Mindset. I’ll leave you with a quote which is at the core of this talk, “if you can see it in your mind you can hold it in your hand”.
If you have any questions, please ask. I know sometimes it’s hard to think of a question when prompted so I’ll briefly show a list of things we talked about in case that is helpful.
Positive:
Work life balance - At a corporation, the division between work and your outside life are established. You can look to other employees and mirror their schedules without the stress of if you’re working too little.
Support System - When you or run into issues outside of work, there are usually protocols and systems in place to allow everything to run smoothly while you’re out.
The are my opinion partly from working, but also recognizing that people see things differently. For instance, your work being unguided may be a turnoff. Where I actually enjoy being able to make a bit more decisions.
Unguided (learn what needs to be learned, do what needs to be done)
Lack of support system (can sometimes be overwhelming when facing challenges)
Multitasking a lot of projects (overwhelming if you don’t feel like you’re making enough progress)
Unknown future - Hopefully, the startup you join does not have this problem, but depending on the company it could easily collapse over the next year if the app doesn’t gain traction
The skills you will develop while going through this process will make you more productive, but it will also make you a bigger value add when you start working as a developer. People may look at this and say it’s Project Management. I don’t want to be a Project Manager, I want to be a developer. I hear this about DevOps as well, people don’t want to learn DevOps because they want to be a developer. I’m here to tell you that if you have the opportunity to learn and you don’t, someone else will be. Most likely there are a handful of people in this room, who look at this information from a different perspective. They look at it as, “oh man this is how I get ahead”. The same way I looked at it back when I attended Wednesday talks while I was at Epicodus.

Not face up on the table. If you want to be more dramatic toss your phone inside your backpack and zip it up
over the ear + white noise, I listen to YouTube white noise sometimes 4 hours a day
take control of what you give your attention too
When I’m starting my day, we have a quick standup meeting through Slack. Which is a group messaging app. In our standup we talk about what we did yesterday, what we’re doing today, and if there are any blockers. It honestly helps sometimes, but other times it interrupts your focus. So lately the first thing I do is write down my responses to the questions. Then when it automatically starts at 10am, I copy/paste. Then put my company slack notifications on snooze until lunch, turn on white noise, and work
What I’ve found:
snap your brain out of the bad habit loop and go
something that makes you happy, what it will feel like when you accomplish your goal
I did this when preparing this presentation, it was Saturday morning, beautiful outside and I live downtown. I woke up early in the morning and pushed myself to sit down at the computer to start. However, the second I opened google docs I started to get this feeling rush over me saying, come back later. So I counted 54321, snapped my brain out of it, thought about the feeling of giving a good presentation, and I pushed myself to start writing a few lines)
I’ve used this to help get out of bed and stopping myself from procrastinating

Following the advice in previous slides, should get you moving down the path. But, let’s talk about a few more ways you can put yourself in a place to be successful
Whether you are actively working on your personal brand or not you still have one. Your personal brand communicates who you are, why you have value, and informs employers that you are someone they should hire. LinkedIn is specifically important. On LinkedIn the ability to grow your network and gain attention by writing articles or thoughtful posts is incredible. We are living through the greatest period in history for growing your career quickly. By investing time in updating your skills, rearranging your information, adding certifications/courses, updating job history with meaningful bullet points of how you made an impact in the projects you worked on, and making strategic posts to frame yourself in the way you want. You will have companies knocking on your door. This is how I got the job at Nike and also how I got the job at Mode2. I’ve also met with a couple of startups who reached out on LinkedIn for assistance with AWS and Serverless development because I’ve framed myself as an expert.

Not hard to get ahead when you are putting in two extra weeks of work every month.
Meaning every month that you consistently wake up at 5:30am only Monday-Friday not on the weekend, you’re giving yourself nearly two extra 40hr work weeks to work on your goals.
I don’t know about you but this motivates the hell out of me.
This is something that really is overlooked quite a bit. The most successful people in the world wake up early. They do this because it allows them the time and uninterrupted focus to work on what they care about and get ahead. I wake up every morning at 5:30am. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I go to the gym at 6am. I get home at 7am and I’m dressed/ready to work at 7:30am. I don’t start work till 9am, so I give myself an extra 1 ½ hours of time to work on my personal goals Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Tuesday and Thursday I’m dressed/ready to work at 6:30am at the latest. Giving me an extra 2 ½ hours to work on my personal goals on Tuesday and Thursday. Let’s add this up. I also work on my personal goals on the weekend, but let’s leave that time out.
Working hard is one of the only things that we have control over and a key to getting ahead. I just talked about the power of waking up early and to a large degree these two points are related. However, let’s look at it from the perspective of your job or career.
Let me set the scene, one month after graduating from Epicodus I started working at Nike in the Innovation Engineering Department as a contractor. I started on a small team where I was one of only two developers on my team. During my stay at Nike multiple developers were fired on my team for not performing or meshing with our team dynamic. Resulting in a wake up call that as a contractor you could be let go at any point and *poof* it’s like you didn’t exist.
See everyday at Nike they receive thousands of job applications and the second one of my team members was let go, they had interviews lined up a couple days later. Something similar happened when I put in my two weeks notice. So I say all this being really serious. Getting ahead is awesome and you should feel great. However, staying ahead takes consistently showing up and working hard.
Go all in
think 2x more then devs with the same amount of experience but lack your specialty
even next to highly experienced developers because you know something they don't
due to having a specialty they probably hired you for
by doing things others don't like to do or don't know how to do, doors will just open up
This is only a few of the people that I listen to repeatedly. Everyday I listen to inspiration and motivation. I seek out inspiration and motivation not because I lack it, but because I need to condition myself to dream bigger than my situation. Those people mentioned above embody the principles of how to dream big and chase those dreams. Those are my coaches and my mentors. I think it’s important that you seek out people who will push you to dream bigger and hold you accountable. Although, I have not met these people in person they are who I rely on to give me guidance when I’m trying to figure out what to do. Each one of them comes from different backgrounds, hardships, and they cover a wide variety of topics.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to my talk on Mindset. I’ll leave you with a quote which is at the core of this talk, “if you can see it in your mind you can hold it in your hand”.
