CREATING A POSITIVE SAFETY CULTURE
www.mindsafety.net

The principals behind MindSafety were first conceived in
the UK oil and gas industry around 1989.
It was realised then that safety was a combination of
people as well as systems.
Despite having the best safety systems, it does not
automatically follow everyone will abide by them!
This is because behaviours are driven by an individual’s
perceptions at the time, which can influence their choices
made in the workplace.
Mindsafety specialise in influencing these perceptions,
helping organisations in their step-change process towards
a sustainable positive safety culture.

SAFETY = PEOPLE + SYSTEMS
At MindSafety, we believe in two important statements:
MindSafety challenges everyone to change their
minds about safety, and to collectively contribute to
moving toward a positive belief-based safety culture.
“Nobody plans to injure themselves at work.”
“Nobody can think of safety all day long.”

It is not about
introducing more and
more systems.
MindSafety focuses on
respectfully reminding
everyone that we are all
Human Beings, and as such
we all demonstrate similar
human traits:
• WE ALL FORGET THINGS
• WE ALL ‘DAY-DREAM’ (‘Zone Out’)
• WE ALL TRY TO SAVE TIME
• WE TEND TO BELIEVE BAD THINGS
ONLY HAPPEN TO OTHER PEOPLE
MindSafety specialise in
getting everyone to
recognising these ‘traits’,
and to motivate safer
working practices to reduce
the chances of an incident
occurring.

Using humour, fascinating knowledge based on proven scientific facts, & real-
life examples everyone can relate to, MindSafety starts the process of
changing core perceptions that drive behaviour.

Stage 1
Executive Leader’s Workshops – To create a VISION for the future and to design a
ROADMAP to give direction and support for the step-change process.
Stage 2
Dynamic ‘Head-Turning’ events and Training Workshops with Middle Managers,
Supervisors and Frontline Workers about key messages derived from the world of
Psychology & Sociology, to provide the SKILLS on how to promote safer working
practice within the workplace.
Stage 3
Specialised further development of selected delegates to become Accredited
I.S.C.A. Safety Coaches within the organisation, to work with Leaders and embed the
Key Messages into the workforce culture.
The MindSafety training programme consists of three main ‘Campaign’ steps:

Questionnaire to become active members of the International Safety
Coach Association (I.S.C.A.), and receive a Membership Card
certifying their position as an active I.S.C.A. Safety Coach.
All those who complete the two-day I.S.C.A. Training Workshop receive a
certificate of recognition, accredited and supported by MindSafety, who
are the exclusive awarding body.
New coaches also receive a
