Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction PresentationTony Fahkry
What is stress? We hear so much in the media about how stressed we are, that one invariably believes the news. In this seminar, we explore the fundamental principles governing stress. How much stress can we deal with? Are our bodies equipped to deal with stress? How can you change and empower yourself with the necessary tools to avoid falling into stressful situations? We teach knowledge and awareness using mindfulness, so the individual has a variety of coping strategies to face such situations in life.
Have you ever thought a small portion of your vast mind might be active in obtaining each detail of your life without conscious awareness? Is it possible? Yes, it is your subconscious mind that Adelaide hypnotherapy works on while exploring all incidents within you. Hypnotherapy deals with fears and experiences that bother you and don’t let you live a happy life, and affect your behaviours.
Companies that realize and invest in the connection between employee health and business goals have a competitive advantage. Taking care of your employees and taking care of your customers are not mutually exclusive events. If you support your employees with the right tools, they'll be more engaged, more focused, less stressed and better able to deliver bottom line results. Research has shown that meditation can reduce stress for employees while also improving performance and productivity for the organization. On February 20th, Tom Freeman, Engagement Manager, Headspace for Work, will give a presentation on the benefits of meditation and mindfulness for your team, and demonstrate what a culture of meditation could look like in your organization.
In this webinar, you'll learn:
The scientific benefits of meditation and mindfulness
More about the Headspace library of content and how to make it part of your day
How to build a supportive culture of meditation in the workplace

Today, in the busy and dynamic, even agitated modern world, meditation has become a must-know technique. This is how you can reap all its benefits the easiest way.
How meditation can reduce stress. This set of slides examines the types of meditation practices, mechanisms and rationale for meditation as a stress reduction technique, procedural guidelines and applications, efficacy based on peer reviewed articles, and lastly side effects and contraindications.
The Top 100 Health Benefits of MeditationPaul Harrison
In 100 Health Benefits of Meditation, meditation author and teacher PM Harrison shares with you all the top health benefits of meditation, including how meditation is good for your body, mind, emotions, relationships, and lifestyle.
As research into the applications of mindfulness progresses, both in the medical field for problems like pain and chronic illness management, and in the mental health field through therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy continue to increase the empirical support for the efficacy of this approach in a variety of conditions, it behooves us to learn more about this and apply it in our own lives and practices.

Mindfulness
Enhancing mental health in the law
As a litigation lawyer, I often
found myself over-engineering
courtroom scenarios in my head
and when things didn’t go to plan
it would retrospectively cause me
mental angst.
Many of my friends practising law are burnt
out and share these sentiments, with some
maintaining that whilst they may have the
resilience to adequately deal with stress in
the workplace, they are seeing an influx
of their colleagues taking stress leave and
suffering from anxiety and depression.
Recent studies show that one in five
Australian employees have taken time off
work due to feeling mentally unwell in the
past 12 months and that untreated mental
health conditions cost Australian workplaces
approximately $10.9 billion per year.1
What is mindfulness?
You can be forgiven for being a little flippant
when you hear the term mindfulness, as it
seems to be the ‘buzzword’ used by every
self-proclaimed personal development guru
out there. In essence though, mindfulness is
simply the psychological process of bringing
our complete and undivided attention to our
internal and external experiences, as they are
occurring in the present moment.
What are the benefits?
The benefits of practising mindfulness are
abundant. From a mental health perspective,
it is a simple, non-prescriptive measure
that can be used to alleviate stress, anxiety,
depression, chronic pain and addiction.
Generally speaking, practising mindfulness
vastly improves mental health and
performance in the course of our personal
and professional lives.
Where’s the evidence?
As a lawyer I insisted; show me the
evidence! So I did some research and
found that a technique known as functional
magnetic resonance imaging, used to detect
blood flow in the brain, confirms that when
people are practising mindfulness, only
the pre-frontal cortex becomes enlivened.
This is the part of the brain associated with
awareness, attention, control, concentration
and decision making.
With prolonged practice, mindfulness
increases neuroplasticity, which in turn
enhances mental agility and performance.
It is because of this scientific evidence –
transcending it from a mere ‘buzzword’ to
being a credible and powerful tool to enhance
mental health – that we now have a range
of successful CEOs, business professionals
and leading institutions utilising mindfulness
to enhance their performance.2
The question I then asked myself was:
“If these successful bodies and people are
using mindfulness to reduce stress and
enhance their performance, why aren’t I?”
How can I start
practising mindfulness?
Daily meditation
The most powerful tool we know that can
be used to practise mindfulness is meditation.
I’ve personally been meditating for ten years
now and don’t believe I’d be able to get
through my day without it. It anchors my being
to everything that is important in my life and
has taught me.

Skeptics would ask, “what exactly can sitting in half-lotus position or breathing deeply relate to a particular sick person?” Meditation has been practiced for centuries and was originally meant to help heighten understanding of the particular sacred and mystical forces of life.

Over recent years there has been an increase in interest from executives and human resource departments in mindfulness. Most mindfulness professionals attribute this rapid rise in interest to the fact that through MRI’s, brain scans, and rigorously controlled meditation studies we have better science available to us which clearly demonstrates the benefits of mindfulness. From our perspective, the rise in interest is also a response to the fact that we are completely overwhelmed by our limitless access to information and non-stop expectations of connectivity.
