Unit 5-Task 1 Mindmap
1. What are music videos?
A music video is a song is a composition for voice performed by singing
or alongside musical instruments, also a music video is a short film
integrating a song and imagery and choreography put together. Music
videos use a wide range of styles of contemporary video making
techniques, including animation, live action filming. Some music videos
blend different styles, such as animation, music, and live action. Many
music videos interpret images and scenes from the song's lyrics. Other
music videos may be without a set concept, being merely a filmed version
of the song's live performance.
2. Why are they made?
Music videos are made for the public audience, and people who are
interested in the videos, that genre of music. Also they are made for the
artist themselves as they earn a living from how popular their video
becomes, this makes them more money and popular in the music charts.
Music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended
to promote the sale of music recordings. To give bands/artist exposure a
music video is one of the best ways to publicize, as it would no doubt be
a hit or not. Music videos are not limited through the internet many
people from around the world can view it.
Experience- Performing in a music video gives the band/singer
experience in performing elaborate and complex moves in exact
sequence. While performing on a music video the band/singer doesn't
have to perform live, and the band/artist can get feedback from the fans
on how well they perform. The singer/band can then later repeat the
moves they did on the music video on stage live knowing exactly what
moves the audience would love. Also gives the fans a taste of whatโ€™s new
on the next album.
3. How do they work?
An artist will produce some lyrics or have them written for them, and
then a sample audio track or video will be released for everyone to get a
view. After that, a music video for the song will be made, but depending
on the song and if the people like it for it to be a hit and even possibly go
on the charts. This can sometimes increase their popularity.
4. Who are they for?
Theyโ€™re for the public audience and especially for the fans that they have.
The fans play a big part in the artist/band`s life because without them their
view would be as popular as it. By putting them on the music channels it
helps widen their fan base and increases their viewers, because more people
are watching and may like that type of music.
5. Where do we see them?
We see music videos on music videos channels (4music and mtv base) and
especially on the internet (YouTube). We also see clips of the videos on TV
adverts.
6. When are they released?
They are released before the artist/bands album`s come out. Normally the artist
will make a demo tracks for the audience to view and get a little sneak peak
(demo) of the songs before purchasing the album, this happens maybe a couple
weeks before or longer. This helps get more customers and increases them
publicity wise.
