Sustainable dyeing process to cope with Industry 4.0Emran Ali
Value addition for textiles is an important process and it is required for all products including yarn, fabric, garment, fashion apparel, floor covering, and the majority of technical textile. For each textile processing, the processor used enormous amounts of chemicals and water in order to attain the desired result. After processing the residual processed chemicals and waters are treated with effluent treatment and discharged into the mainstream. The amount of residual unfixed dyes, metal compounds, formaldehyde-based dye-fixing agents, hydrocarbon-based softeners, and all types of dye-bath auxiliaries, as well as their degradation nature against the environment, are the deciding factors for its sustainability. There are many factors influencing the overall efficiency or value addition of a textile product, which play an important role in its sustainability.
By working with a hygiene provider like Cannon Hygiene, you can ensure that your hygiene requirements are met, your business becomes more efficient and you support your brand by looking after the environment.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

3. Why MilliCare?
MilliCare Carpet Cleaner is a DRY absorbent cleaning product and is recommended for
the following reasons:
Efficient – The MilliCare DRY process removes the soil and leaves no chemical residue
in carpet, which attracts dirt and soil.
Convenient – Carpet can be walked on immediately after or during cleaning: no down
time needed for drying as in wet cleaning methods.
Slower Resoiling – Carpet stays cleaner 2 to 3 times longer than when wet systems are
used – with MilliCare you clean less often.
Safe – The MilliCare DRY process will not harm carpet, cause shrinkage, seam
separation, color bleeding, mildew or delamination.
Certifiable Indoor Air Quality Improvement – The MilliCare DRY process can
reduce airborne particle level up to 90% and dust mite allergens by 87%.
Environmentally Friendly – The MilliCare DRY process maximizes water efficiency,
prolongs carpet lifecycle and improves indoor air quality.

5. What is different about MilliCare?
MilliCare’s dry cleaning process cleans deep into carpet
fibers.
After the particle contacts the soil and stain, it attacks and adsorbs
the dirt. The moisture in the particle is the key in this process.
Polymer is brushed deep into
carpet and adsorbs soil.
Moisture evaporates, soil is
adsorbed. Vacuum removes
polymer and soil.
MilliCare’s process leaves no
residue, chemicals or moisture
in your carpet.

7. Another Benefit to MilliCare
Typical portable hot extractors have a
10 gallon solution tank and can clean
between 1,000 and 2,000 sq. ft. before
refilling. Moisture recovery can be
anywhere between 60% to 75%.
Taking the best case and assuming a productivity rate of 2000 sq. ft.
per tank, a moisture recovery rate of 75% the water used to clean a
10,00 sq. ft. area would be:
10,000 sq. ft. x 10 gal./tank ÷ 2000 sq. ft./tank = 50
gallons
Water recovered and requiring disposal:
50 gal. x 75% recovery rate = 37.5 gallons
Amount of moisture left in the fibers to evaporate:
50 gal. - 37.5 gal. = 12.5 gallons

Let me show you how the process would work when we clean your work environment.
Describe 3 step dry process here.
I can also show you right now how effectively our process cleans (RED PEN TEST).
So, how does the chemistry work? Our powder is comprised of synthetic polymer particles that work like a sponge.
Each non‑toxic particle can adsorb 80‑95% of its own weight in soil and the particulates in the air that you don't want to breathe.
Clients often ask me what "adsorb" means. Adsorb describes how the surfactant that coats each particle attracts the soil so that the soil clings to the particle but never mixes with it chemically.
And although the technology that we use is in a powder form, the particles have a low specific gravity so they don't blow in the air and negatively impact your IAQ ‑ they are completely recovered with the soil when your carpet is vacuumed‑that means no detergent residue or other residues which could raise your carpet's pH.
MilliCare's system is non‑abrasive to your carpet's fiber and backing and is effective on all types of commercial carpet.
Let me show you some actual examples of what this could look like in your carpet.
You can see the dramatic difference that MilliCare's dry polymer process makes even after the carpet has been cleaned using another system and then re‑soiled.
Printable
Here's another benefit to our dry process. We don't use your water. The benefit to you is...
You don't waste a valuable resource.
You don’t pay to use it or dispose of it.
And, it isn't left in your carpet to encourage the growth of mold, fungus and mildew.
We save your resources and your money, and support Green Working to raise your Indoor Air Quality.
These are examples of results we have realized for some of our other clients.
MilliCare promotes Green Working in your work environment by:
Being free of VOC emitting carriers and fragrances (your environment smells clean because it is clean, not because the odor has been masked)
Working with your HVAC system to reduce airborne particulates (clearing the air of 99 % of the things you don't want to breathe)
And, actually removing the particulates from your textiles and carpet ‑things like soil, mold spores and bacteria
In addition, no water is introduced into the carpet to promote biological activity or production of mold and fungus ‑ so there is no wet carpet smell.
The Carpet and Rug Institute states that carpet which is maintained in a clean, dry condition does not support or cause mold growth.
Printable
Because MilliCare is dedicated to R&D beyond the industry standard, and passionate about our environmental stewardship‑we commissioned an independent study by Air Quality Sciences in Atlanta, GA to evaluate the impact that our cleaning process has on removing particulates from the air and improving IAQ.
In every instance, there was a massive reduction in the existence of the substance, and often the substance was reduced to almost undetectable levels.
This was the case with dust mites, formaldehyde, bacteria, VOC's and other compounds as you can see here.
MilliCare really does clear the air of up to 99% of the things you don't want to breathe, and our commitment to Green Working helps create a cleaner, healthier, more comfortable work environment for your employees.
Printable
Whatever the nature of your space, MilliCare is committed to bringing you a safe, clean environment. By protecting and maintaining the full range of your workplace fibers, we can help to eliminate dirt and odor, dust and mites, molds and other particles that can negatively affect your IAQ.
In most working environments carpet is the largest finish and (FM’s) have some type of cleaning program in place to protect that investment. What many (FM’s) don’t realize though, is that upholstery and wall and panel fabrics also trap dirt and odors and should be cleaned regularly. MilliCare’s cleaning process is a safe and effective method for cleaning all of the textiles in your work space.
One of the best ways to keep your carpet clean is to prevent tracked-in dirt. Our First Appearances entry mat system is completely modular and collects 85% of dirt before it reaches your facility’s carpet. We also offer a full line of KEX entry mats which provide both a line of defense against tracked-in dirt and an opportunity to have your company logo at the entry to your building.
For particularly high-traffic areas, MilliCare’s Fiber Protector goes beyond normal surface guards to protect fibers inside and out – even after they’re installed. And for liquid stain protection, Fiber Protector provides an advanced subsurface technology that prevents stains from bonding to dye sites.
If you have struggled with persistent odors, MilliCare’s Odor Neutralizer is a safe, biodegradable, non-toxic, non-staining formula that can destroy the immediate odor and speed up the destruction of the source by oxidizing it into non-volatile components. Odor Neutralizer doesn’t mask odors, but destroys them permanently.
MilliCare is committed to a customized maintenance plan for all of the textiles in your work environment, so that you can protect your investment, improve your IAQ and enhance your corporate image.

Why should you care? Three reasons: Increased ROI, Improved IAQ and Enhanced Corporate Image.
By maintaining your textiles and carpet rather than cleaning them when they look dirty, you can extend their serviceable life, and decrease the time that you spend on carpet maintenance problems. In addition, by cleaning with MilliCare’s innovative dry polymer process you reduce maintenance-related downtime.
Studies have shown that increased employee absenteeism and decreased productivity due to poor IAQ and sick-building syndrome are costing corporations billions of dollars a year. MilliCare’s deep-extraction method of cleaning coupled with your standard HVAC system improves IAQ by helping to clear the air of up to 99% of the things you don’t want to breathe.
And, a consistently clean work environment protects the investment you’ve made in your corporate brand image- helps your company to attract and retain top talent-and reduces the number of complaints from your existing employees. A study by ASID has shown that only Compensation and Benefits are more important to employees than a clean and attractive work environment.
