Microsoft Surface is a tabletop computer platform that allows for touch interaction without mice or keyboards. It uses infrared cameras beneath a screen to sense touch and objects placed on the screen. This information is processed and displayed using rear projection. Current customers of Surface include retailers, hotels, and healthcare organizations. While expensive, Surface aims to fundamentally change how people interact with computers by providing a multi-touch, multi-user experience through direct manipulation of digital objects.
