This document contains the slides from a presentation given by Koen Venema on the effect of the microbiota on behavior. The presentation discusses the role of the gut microbiota in health and disease, how the microbiota develops from birth, and potential ways to manage diseases through probiotics, prebiotics, and fecal transplants. It emphasizes that not all probiotics are equal and reviews different levels of evidence for their health effects.

Thousands suffer from the gastrointestinal syndrome called leaky gut syndrome, but the underlying cause is still a mystery.
The method by which the condition occurs has been described. A gap in the mucosal lining in the gut which leads to contents like partially digested food, bacteria and fungi finding a way into the blood stream.
Many people who try an Ancestral Diet don’t get adequate relief for their digestive complaints. A key reason why may be the presence of SIBO. This presentation will discuss symptoms, causes, pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of SIBO. A simple breath test can diagnose SIBO and treatments include diet, antibiotics, herbal antibiotics, elemental diet, and probiotics. Central in all treatment of SIBO is a low- carbohydrate, grain-free diet (Specific Carbohydrate Diet, Gut and Psychology Diet, modified Low Fodmaps Diet). Discussion will include why an ancestral diet can benefit digestion and how the SIBO diets differ from standard Paleo/Primal diets.

Human Microbiome is the current project in Research field. The importance of Microorganisms in the human body, the importance and novel roe of the microorganisms on a human body is very effective and helpful. Fecal Transplantation is a unique and helpful technique to cure a dreadful disease naturally by means of microorganisms or introducing the normal flora in to the body again.
This is the second edition of Parapsychological medicine, as you can see it is a little raw, by the months I will improve the magazine for sure, enjoy, it is raw but has good content. I already did some improviments.

>Since the ban of antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) in the European Union, the industry has been looking for valid alternatives to improve health, immune status and performance in animal agriculture.
>The industry focuses on developing solutions that mimic the effects of AGPs. However, the exact mode of action of the AGPs to improve poultry performance is not fully understood.
Most AGPs alternatives try to prevent the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria and to modulate indigenous bacteria to improve immune status and performance.
>As an industry, we have made limited progress in improving gut health. Maybe we need to change the approach to find the most optimal solution.
>As part of a stable ecological system, pathogens per se do not represent a threat to animal health. The dynamic nature of the gastrointestinal microflora in chickens makes maintaining the right balance in the microbial ecosystem.
>Despite a large amount of scientific work has been done on the topic, a lack of consistent improvement has been registered.
>To improve gut health more consistently, a broader approach, involving a combination of nutrition, feed technology and husbandry management needs to be taken.
>In addition, gut-health is too complex to be solved from
only one point of view. Input should be obtained from different disciplines, including food technology, human nutrition, veterinary and human medical sciences.
>DSM will start an holistic program to come to tailor made solutions to improve the gut ecosystem with the objective of reducing the use of antibiotics in the poultry industry.

Ekomilk Scan+ for milk producers and veterinarians provides accurate and quick somatic cell count (SCC) per quarter, per cow and for the dairy herd at only around 0.04$/test. With somatic cell measurement and monitoring (thanks to the included software), udder inflammation “mastitis” of milk cows can be detected at an early stage and udder health can be improved. In turn, milk production and quality (also important for dairy processing like cheese and yoghurt) can be improved at the dairy farm. Ekomilk Scan is a cost-effective and easy-to-use digital cell meter (counter) which also helps reducing laboratory costs. It is important to avoid a too high cell level in the milk tank.
