The Importance Of Democracy In The Parthenon
Democracy was a revolutionary idea that moved the shaping of the law into the hands of many rather than a select few, or, in some cases, one tyrant or monarch. Politeia, which refers to both the literal city states of Ancient Greece and the metaphorical and philosophical idea of citizens rights as expressed by Plato and other philosophers of the time, takes that idea of power to the people to a higher, more sacred level. Political participation was woven into the daily life of an Athenian citizen: emphasis was placed on the common good rather than the individual in a radical egalitarianism, not in circumstances, but in responsibility responsibility for the people (at least the people who were eligible) to shape the law around maintaining Athens values of valor, intellectualism, and patriotism. Civic engagement was an important expression of one s identity and devotion to Greek society, and this paper will explore how that sacred dedication to civic engagement could have been a primary motivation in building and creating the visuals of the Parthenon. The idea of sacrificing the needs of the individual Athenian for the benefit of everyone in Athens was at the core of the inner workings of its democracy, thus, a distinct privilege was placed on engaging in the political atmosphere. (Of course, said privilege of voting and serving on juries was only afforded to male natural born citizens, but that is beside the point.) Our public men have, besides politics, their

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
it describes the bony anatomy including the femoral head , acetabulum, labrum . also discusses the capsule , ligaments . muscle that act on the hip joint and the range of motion are outlined. factors affecting hip joint stability and weight transmission through the joint are summarized.
This slide is special for master students (MIBS & MIFB) in UUM. Also useful for readers who are interested in the topic of contemporary Islamic banking.

1. Michael Jordan Biography Essay
Michael Jordan is one of the best NBA players of all time. This is my biography about him.
Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. Michael Jordan went to Laney High School in Wilmington, North
Carolina. This is where Michael started his long basketball journey. But he didn't try to make the team until his sophomore year where he didn't
even make the varsity team. When he didn't make the team he was very embarrassed, which lead him to be determined to make the very next year.
So in the next summer Michael trained all summer long, where he also grew from being 5'11 to being 6'3. All of this paid off as he made the team
that year and took the famous number 23 because it was half of his brother Larry's number which...show more content...
At the start of the season in his freshman year he didn't do very good as he was very nervous, but after he got over his nervousness he was a very
good player. One of the best starters in the starting lineup, which had two kids James Worthy and Sam Perkins that had very good NBA careers. It
was only three games into his college career that Jordan really made his mark as it was his first really good game against the number ninth ranked
Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, as he lead the team with 22 points. Michael became a fan favorite very fast because of his great plays and amazing dunks.
Michael was even becoming a favorite from his teammates as North Carolina's starting point guard Jimmy Black said "Michael could do it all–score,
defend, block shots, rebound, and even "quarterback" the team." according to Michael Jordan Modern Role Models.
North Carolina had a very good season with all three of their stars going 12–2. Which was good enough to make the NCAA playoffs also known as
March Madness, where they made it all the way to the finals where they faced the Georgetown Hoyas. In the finals North Carolina pulled off the win
as the score was 63–62 where Michael hit the game winning shot at the buzzer to give them the

Following Jordan's third NBA championship, he had some troubles. Jordan's father pulled over one night to take a nap on his way home and was

eventually cleared. These events eventually caused Jordan to lose his motivation and the sense of having to prove something as a basketball player,
and he felt it was time to step away from the court. Jordan sought a new challenge to play professional baseball. He signed a minor league contract
with the Chicago White Sox. He was assigned to the Birmingham Barons, and played an outfielder position. His presence in the minors grew large
numbers in attendance, but Jordan's batting was uncharacteristic of his athletic skills. In his first summer with the Barons, he batted .202 with 114
strikeouts in 127 games. On March 18, 1995, Jordan announced that he would be playing basketball again. He ended his short baseball career and
rejoined the Bulls near the end of the 1994–1995 regular season, eventually losing to the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Jordan
once again had something to prove to the world, that he was still the greatest basketball player to ever play the game, and that he would be even

Michael Jordan was a great basketball player, but he was not the best athlete of all time. He played two professional sports, he played baseball and
basketball, and he was great at basketball but not so great at baseball. Michael was a really famous athlete and he was among the best, but he was not
the best.
There are a lot of great athletes in all sports such as basketball, baseball, football, etc. When you hear about players in some of the sports, names such as
Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, and Tom Brady come to mind. A lot of people are forgetting about a couple other athletes that are just as good, if not
better. For example, John Stockton comes to my mind for basketball because he was without a doubt the smartest and most brilliant player to ever play
the game of basketball.
There are lots of different sports, there are probably over one hundred different sports and lots of different players that play them. If Michael Jordan
was to play against Tom Brady in football, he would not stand a chance, therefore you can say that Michael is not the best athlete of all time. Michael
played two different sports but he is not the greatest athlete of all time because there were a lot of baseball players that were way better than Michael
was.
In the NBA, which Michael was famous for playing, there are five major statistics. These statistics include points, blocks, steals, assists, and rebounds.
In the game of basketball to be good at all of these statistics is a huge accomplishment.

To be able to keep composure and focus on one shot under those types of conditions is not an easy task. Amazingly, he made clutchshots time and time
again for the Bulls. Being able to think and react in highly pressured situations for James on the other hand, has not been accomplished. I have
seen James, with the ball in the final seconds of the game, and he was unable to hit the winning shot. You can see the pressure all over his face. He
does not have the ability to plan and if necessary, counter plan under extreme conditions. A good example is in this past year's Olympics he clearly
did not play like a champion. When the team was down, he didn't try to take the game over like a champion would. When looking at Jordan and

with honorable pride, not vanity. After Jordan signed with Nike his game only got better. He never felt as if he was too good for improvement and
showed everyone great respect. James differs after he signed with Nike, his game flat–lined. He never showed any kind of improvement in his game,
and his team never got any better. It seemed like he only tried when he had the ball, especially when his team was getting blown out. A champion
