Main Responsibilities/Experience
Electrical control Room: 1994 – 1995 (Electrical Network Controller)
 Shift work - 8 hours rotation
 Monitor the operation of five 11kV Generators, including manual synchronizing onto network
(national grid) via a synch scope.
 Monitor CITECT Energy metering management system for the complete factory (approx. 120+
11kV incomers and feeders on the distribution network).
 Set up practical exams for electrical apprentices in their mid and final assessments to complete
their Final Sasol Internal Trade Test.
 Manage the Shutdown switching/isolation sequence to take out a section of the plant and return it
back to service after the work has been completed.
Electrical Metering: 1996 (Technician)
 Check existing metering equipment is functioning correctly and repair where needed.
 Monitor CITECT Energy metering management system for the complete factory (approx. 120 of
11kV incomers and feeders).
 Set exams for electricians in their mid and final assessments.
 Fault finding on electrical circuits, E/I interfacing, ACO boards, etc.
 Having a good working knowledge of wiring and schematic drawings.
 Team player.
Electrical Testing: 1997 – 2003 (Senior Technician)
 Test LV & MV Distribution Transformers.
 Test MV Distribution Reactors.
 Test LV & MV Cables taking into consideration any de-rating factors if applicable after the correct
cable has been identified. Using cable faultfinding equipment like TDR – Time Domain
Reflectometry Scope, Fault point Burn-down units, Thumping (Capacitor discharge) unit used with
or without the Cable scope.
 Fault finding on Power Factor correction equipment.
 Test Feeder, Motor and Generator relays in protection schemes and associated electrical control
equipment like oil-vacuum-water pumps, valves, alarms, indication lights, indication meters.
 Electrical Faultfinding, installation and commissioning of relays and updating of drawings
for LV & MV Protection schemes, Electrical panels and switchgear.
 Develop, write and update Electrical legal task observations and work procedures.
 Safety as well as a BBS Representative.
 After hours stand-by duty.

 Using of measuring equipment (Insulation resistance meters(250Vdc to 5kVdc, 11kVac Phasing
