Belmont rise up
for Stewart
THERES NOTHING like a cup game to
bring out the best, and worst, in teams as
Belmont and Granada showed in Herbert
Park.
The Bells had narrowly beaten Granada
in both their league games this season,
but, when they met in the Under 11 Paul
Stewart Cup, it was one-way traffic in
favour of the home side last weekend.
Granada just could not get their passing
game going and quickly found themselves
out of contention.
The final score was 8-1 in favour of
Belmont where their goals were scored by
Carl Victory, who netted four times, John
Doherty, two, Jack Daly and Michael
Jordan.
Refs wanted for
midweeks
WITH THE bright evenings now upon us
clubs should take care when checking
fixtures, as mid-week games are about to
get under way.
Also would all SDFL referees contact
Brendan Finn, at 0876748972, as to their
availability for forthcoming mid-week
games as soon as possible.
Castle close in
on promotion
PROMOTION looks on the cards for Castle
Celtic’s Under 13 Division 2 squad as we
head into the final games of the season.
Last weekend they took a major step
towards that goal when they travelled to
Parkvale and bagged the points with
efforts from Jack Duffy and Ryan Maguire.
The win keeps them hot on the heels of
second placed Cabinteely and with games
in hand over the Cabs, should they win
them, they will be able to overhaul them in
the coming weeks.
Heffernan to
boost Belgrave
AFC BELGRAVE got off to the worst
possible start in their Under 12 League Cup
campaign when they suffered a 7-2 defeat
at the hands of Manortown.
But manager Eddie Corcoran has high
hopes that things will get better, when
centre back Mark Heffernan settles back
into the fray and the defence form a
better under standing.
For the record the Bells scorers against
the Town were Kevin Corcoran and Carl
Tims.
