Job Summary
Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA invites applications for an assistant professorship in the Department of
Intelligence Studies of the Ridge College of Intelligence Studies and Applied Sciences for the 2017-2018
academic year. The Erie, PA campus position begins August 23, 2017.
Successful candidates will teach introductory and applied courses in intelligence analysis and law
enforcement intelligence primarily at the undergraduate level, with the potential for graduate courses
as well. In addition to instruction, duties will include curriculum development, service to the profession,
and participation in University and Ridge College activities including student mentoring, development of
internship and employment opportunities, and grant or contractual work. The selected candidate must
demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, continued learning in their field, academic
scholarship, and public scholarship.
Requirements
To be hired at the assistant professor level, applicants should possess a Ph.D., other terminal degree
(ABDs are encouraged to apply), and significant work experience in the law enforcement field.
Applications will also be considered from those individuals who possess a graduate degree (M.S., M.B.A,
M.A., etc.), extensive practitioner experience, and the ability to manage applied analytic projects;
however, hiring will be at the instructor level without a tenure-track option. All highly qualified
candidates will possess teaching experience and experience within a law enforcement agency, in
addition to the ability to manage applied analytic projects.
