This document summarizes discussions from the first meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Community Advisory Board (MENA-CAB). The MENA-CAB aims to improve access to HIV/AIDS treatment and care in the region through dialogue between communities and stakeholders. Key topics discussed include challenges to treatment access in the region, such as pricing of drugs and lack of generic competition. Participants also met with representatives from ViiV Healthcare and the Medicines Patent Pool to discuss strategies for improving access, such as voluntary licenses and use of flexibilities in intellectual property rules. The meeting provided an opportunity for regional stakeholders to address barriers to care and treatment in the MENA region.
