Memory booster herb (natural cognitive enhancers): An overview Neeleshkumar Maurya
Abstract The main important aspect to differentiate from one individual to other human beings is Memory as it is important to recognize individual self. There are three basic forms of memory which allow the brain to encode, store, and retrieve. Without these basic forms of memory, individual even fails to build personal rapport, to acquire new knowledge, and unable to do basic functions of daily life. From last decades, Indian and Chinese cultures took interest for natural remedies by developing various traditional medicines from herbs for the declining activity of cognition, reverse memory loss and to increase learning power. Neotropic herbs are famous for brain acting herbs and smart drugs called from its isolated constituents as it helps to enhance circulation of blood in the brain. This Review focuses on natural agents and Herbs which act as memory boosters.

ABSTRACT- Current studies show that Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) and Ashwagandha herbs (Withania somnifera) could play a positive role in the management of the debilitating Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Notably, AD is currently the commonest form of dementia, a mental disorder that causes the loss of a person’s intellectual ability. In particular, AD impairs the patient’s judgment, memory, and other intellectual abilities, thus seriously interfering with the daily routine of a patient. Currently, there is no proven cure for AD, and the primary focus of medical practitioners is to minimize the patient’s memory loss. According to scientists, traditional herbal medicines have a natural memory boosting capacity that can help reverse damages caused by AD. Brahmi and Ashwagandha are the two main plants that help treat AD. In a study on mice suffering from AD, the use of Brahmi extracts resulted in a decrease in the deposits of beta amyloid within their brains. Typically, an increase in beta amyloid is one of the main causes of memory loss; therefore, its reduction helps improve one’s memory capacity. Similarly, the use of Ashwagandha in mice with AD resulted in a reduction in amyloid plaques and an improvement in their cognitive capacity. In addition, Ashwagandha has tonic characteristics that help stimulate a person’s central nervous system and the brain cells. The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the benefits of Brahmi and Ashwagandha in preventing and managing AD.

The biomechanics of running involves the study of the mechanical principles underlying running movements. It includes the analysis of the running gait cycle, which consists of the stance phase (foot contact to push-off) and the swing phase (foot lift-off to next contact). Key aspects include kinematics (joint angles and movements, stride length and frequency) and kinetics (forces involved in running, including ground reaction and muscle forces). Understanding these factors helps in improving running performance, optimizing technique, and preventing injuries.
PGx Analysis in VarSeq: A User’s PerspectiveGolden Helix
Since our release of the PGx capabilities in VarSeq, we’ve had a few months to gather some insights from various use cases. Some users approach PGx workflows by means of array genotyping or what seems to be a growing trend of adding the star allele calling to the existing NGS pipeline for whole genome data. Luckily, both approaches are supported with the VarSeq software platform. The genotyping method being used will also dictate what the scope of the tertiary analysis will be. For example, are your PGx reports a standalone pipeline or would your lab’s goal be to handle a dual-purpose workflow and report on PGx + Diagnostic findings.
The purpose of this webcast is to:
Discuss and demonstrate the approaches with array and NGS genotyping methods for star allele calling to prep for downstream analysis.
Following genotyping, explore alternative tertiary workflow concepts in VarSeq to handle PGx reporting.
Moreover, we will include insights users will need to consider when validating their PGx workflow for all possible star alleles and options you have for automating your PGx analysis for large number of samples. Please join us for a session dedicated to the application of star allele genotyping and subsequent PGx workflows in our VarSeq software.
Breast cancer: Post menopausal endocrine therapyDr. Sumit KUMAR
Breast cancer in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) status is a common and complex condition that necessitates a multifaceted approach to management. HR+ breast cancer means that the cancer cells grow in response to hormones such as estrogen and progesterone. This subtype is prevalent among postmenopausal women and typically exhibits a more indolent course compared to other forms of breast cancer, which allows for a variety of treatment options.
Diagnosis and Staging
The diagnosis of HR+ breast cancer begins with clinical evaluation, imaging, and biopsy. Imaging modalities such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI help in assessing the extent of the disease. Histopathological examination and immunohistochemical staining of the biopsy sample confirm the diagnosis and hormone receptor status by identifying the presence of estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) on the tumor cells.
Staging involves determining the size of the tumor (T), the involvement of regional lymph nodes (N), and the presence of distant metastasis (M). The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system is commonly used. Accurate staging is critical as it guides treatment decisions.
Treatment Options
Endocrine Therapy
Endocrine therapy is the cornerstone of treatment for HR+ breast cancer in postmenopausal women. The primary goal is to reduce the levels of estrogen or block its effects on cancer cells. Commonly used agents include:
Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs): Tamoxifen is a SERM that binds to estrogen receptors, blocking estrogen from stimulating breast cancer cells. It is effective but may have side effects such as increased risk of endometrial cancer and thromboembolic events.
Aromatase Inhibitors (AIs): These drugs, including anastrozole, letrozole, and exemestane, lower estrogen levels by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, which converts androgens to estrogen in peripheral tissues. AIs are generally preferred in postmenopausal women due to their efficacy and safety profile compared to tamoxifen.
Selective Estrogen Receptor Downregulators (SERDs): Fulvestrant is a SERD that degrades estrogen receptors and is used in cases where resistance to other endocrine therapies develops.
Combination Therapies
Combining endocrine therapy with other treatments enhances efficacy. Examples include:
Endocrine Therapy with CDK4/6 Inhibitors: Palbociclib, ribociclib, and abemaciclib are CDK4/6 inhibitors that, when combined with endocrine therapy, significantly improve progression-free survival in advanced HR+ breast cancer.
Endocrine Therapy with mTOR Inhibitors: Everolimus, an mTOR inhibitor, can be added to endocrine therapy for patients who have developed resistance to aromatase inhibitors.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is generally reserved for patients with high-risk features, such as large tumor size, high-grade histology, or extensive lymph node involvement. Regimens often include anthracyclines and taxanes.

foods or medicinal foods
• Functional food is food that is prepared in a scientific way,
with or without the knowledge of why it is being used. This
type of food provides the body with the required amounts of
all types of nutrients. Examples include whole foods,
fortified, and enriched foods. Functional foods are the most
commonly used nutraceutical foods.
• Medical food on the other hand, is food that is made to be
administered internally under supervision of a doctor. This
is only done after the person has been evaluated, and
certain nutritional requirements established.

4. Memory enhancers
Memory Loss And Related Problems
Since the brain is the most important organ, its health and
condition are vital. Not only is the brain responsible for
managing the body, but it also manages mental activity.
Thus, a healthy brain keeps people mentally and physically
fit.
But the health of the brain typically starts to decline with
age. People have trouble recalling simple things like dates
and where they left the keys. With most jobs requiring
people to have good mental health, this usually adds to the
stress.

5. Tips And Tricks To Improve Memory And
Cognitive Performance
• Several studies show that meditation can help people find
their mental center. It helps people calm down and take
stock of their situation. It can also help relieve stress and
improve cognitive skills and brain activity.
• Many people find that regular breaks at work help them
keep their minds active. Modern jobs can often take a huge
toll on people’s brains. Stepping back every few hours
helps revitalize the brain and keep it healthy.
• Some medicines can help people better manage the stress
of their lives. Experts agree that mental health medication is
as useful as physical health medication. These medicines
can help people manage their stress and keep their brains

7. Alternatives To Nootropics
Nootropics can be a means of improving people’s mental
health and cognitive skills. There are natural as well as
artificial medicinal nootropics that can help people.
Firstly, like other natural compounds, natural nootropics do
not have a lasting impact. A mug of coffee or tea only helps
people feel sharp and alert for a short time.
Secondly, medicinal nootropics are quite potent and can
have side effects. People can only buy these medicines
with a proper prescription from a qualified doctor.
This regulation and the actual cost of the drugs keep
nootropics out of most people’s reach. People often search
for alternatives to nootropic medicines to help them perform
better.
Several supplements can mimic the effect of nootropics in
people.
