The official part of the Club’s session at Window on America center Dnipropetrovsk (Ukraine) was dedicated to the numerous memorial date of January. F.D. Roosevelt whose birthday is on January, 30 was discussed in more detail. We have watched the You Tube videos about his biography and his achievements in New Deal. To close up the session we have completed some exercises based on FDR biography and translated some of his popular quotes.

3. John Griffith "Jack" London (born
John Griffith Chaney, January 12,
1876 – November 22, 1916) was an
American author, journalist, and
social activist.. He is best
remembered as the author of Call of
the Wild and White Fang, both set in
the Klondike Gold Rush, as well as
the short stories.
London was a passionate advocate of
unionization, socialism, and the
rights of workers and wrote several
powerful works dealing with these
topics such as his dystopian novel,
The Iron Heel and his non-fiction
exposé, The People of the Abyss.

4. Martin Luther King, Jr. (January
15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an
American clergyman, activist, and
prominent leader in the African-
American Civil Rights
Movement.
He is best known for his role in the
advancement of civil rights in the
United States and around the
world, using nonviolent methods
following the teachings of
Mahatma Gandhi.
King has become a national icon in
the history of modern American
liberalism.

5. Muhammad Ali is an American
former professional boxer,
philanthropist and social activist.
Considered a cultural icon, Ali was
both idolized and vilified.
Originally known as Cassius Clay, Ali
changed his name after joining the
Nation of Islam in 1964.
Ali would go on to become the first and
only three-time lineal World
Heavyweight Champion.
Nicknamed "The Greatest," Ali was
involved in several historic boxing
matches.
In 1999, Ali was crowned "Sportsman
of the Century" by Sports Illustrated
and "Sports Personality of the
Century" by the BBC.

6. Benjamin Franklin (January 17, 1706
[O.S. January 6, 1705] – April 17, 1790)
was one of the Founding Fathers of the
United States.
Franklin earned the title of "The First
American" for his early and indefatigable
campaigning for colonial unity.
His colorful life and legacy of scientific and
political achievement, and status as one
of America's most influential Founding
Fathers, have seen Franklin honored on
coinage and money; warships; the names
of many towns, counties, educational
institutions.

7. Mario Lanza (January 31, 1921 – October
7, 1959) was an American tenor and
Hollywood movie star of the late 1940s
and the 1950s.
The son of Italian emigrants, he began
studying to be a professional singer at
the age of 16.
After appearing at the Hollywood Bowl in
1947, Lanza signed a seven-year
contract with MGM's head, Louis B.
Mayer, who saw his performance and
was impressed by his singing.
His movie debut was in That Midnight
Kiss (1949). His featured popular song
"Be My Love" became his first million-
selling hit.

8. Franklin Delano Roosevelt
(January 30, 1882 – April 12, 1945
also known by his initials, FDR)
was the 32nd President of the
United States. The only
president elected to the office
four times, Roosevelt led the
United States through two of the
greatest crises of the 20th
century: the Great Depression
and World War II.
Roosevelt is consistently rated by
scholars as one of the greatest
U.S. Presidents.
