Chakyar Koothu is an art form
of Kerala.
A type of highly refined monologue.
Performer narrates stories from Hindu epics such as
Ramayana, Mahabharatha.
Incorporates commentary on current socio-political
events.
CHAKYAR KOOTHU
It is a form of Sanskrit
theatre.

It is traditionally performed
in Kerala.
Usually performed in Sanskrit language in Hindu
temples.
Believed to be 2000 years old.
KOODIYATTAM
Also called Theyyattam or Thira.
Popular ritual form of worship of
North Malabar, Kerala.
The performers of Theyyam belong to the lower class
community, and have an important position in society.
THEYYAM
Festivals of Kerala offer opportunity to find Kerala’s
traditional rituals and customs.
Each art form is peculiar in its own style and nature.
Many art forms are dying and need to be saved.
