Medical Imagining Through Healthcare
When we come to think of it, choosing a career is by far one of the most difficult decisions an adult can make. For some, that decision is chosen for them, whether it’s a business that’s being passed down or through the influence of others around them. Up until my senior year of high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. That was until I took an anatomy class and a class called Independent Study Mentorship (ISM). In ISM, we were required to find a career of interest and a professional in the field who you would "shadow" once a week for the entire year. I knew I was good at math so the career I chose was accounting. For many reasons, such as finding it quite boring, I quickly realized that this wasn’t the career for me. In my anatomy class, however, I found a passion in the health industry. It was by far the most difficult class I've enrolled in however; it has also been the most exciting class I've ever taken. I remember looking forward to the class, even when studying for exams, as I would challenge myself to get above a 95. Since then, I knew I had found my passion in health. Through several hours of research, the career I am most interested in is Radiology. When I took The Clifton Strengths Assessment for Students, my top trait was a relator, which means I excel in developing relationships and I am able to make people realize how much I care about them. My other four strengths were arranger, meaning I am very organized, deliberative, meaning I anticipate obstacles and am a good decision maker, responsibility, meaning I take ownership of my actions and am committed to my values, and lastly consistency, which means I make a strong point to treat everyone equally and thrive under routine behavior (Clifton, 2019). I believe all of my traits make me the perfect candidate for my career choice because they confirm that I am responsible enough to work in the medical field and will be skilled at anticipating the next step. Being organized is very helpful in any career path as well and will only serve to enhance my other qualities. I also believe my last trait of consistency might be the most important; treating everyone with the same level of care is the only way to ensure the best results for everyone who walks through those hospital doors, which ultimately leads to the most lives saved.

Physical therapists help people manage pain and improve mobility through treatment and diagnosis of injuries and chronic conditions. They develop rehabilitation programs using techniques and exercises to reduce risk of further injury and help patients cope with pain. Physical therapists must have a doctorate degree and complete supervised clinical training. They evaluate patient progress and adapt treatment programs as needed.
Student A has chosen to pursue a Master's in nursing and specialize as a family nurse practitioner (FNP). She was drawn to FNP due to her passion for preventative care and forming long-term relationships with patients. She selected FNP over other options like psych NP due to its flexibility in allowing her to potentially work overseas through telehealth and its fit with her goals for her family.

It provides details on three potential career paths - substance abuse counselor, correctional treatment specialist, and arbitrator/mediator. The author analyzes each career, including typical responsibilities, employment and salary statistics. The document concludes with the author's reflection on the research process and commitment to continuing education to make an impact in the field.
This article discusses how psychologists and other mental health professionals tend to avoid discussing money issues more than those in other fields. This money avoidance can pose risks to clients and one's own financial well-being. However, as psychologists, we have skills to evaluate our own money beliefs and help patients understand theirs. The article recommends psychologists work to overcome money avoidance for the benefit of clients and their own finances. It also reports on a study finding mental health professionals commonly hold negative views of wealth compared to other careers.
The document discusses the Chinese Room Argument against the idea that machines can have a mind or understand language. It presents the argument that while machines may be able to imitate human responses, they do not truly understand the language or have consciousness. The Chinese Room Argument proposes that a person in a room could imitate answering Chinese questions without actually understanding Chinese by following a program, similar to how a computer operates. Overall, the document questions whether machines can truly have minds or understand language despite being able to provide human-like responses.

Homeland Security efforts are ably reinforced by Homeland Defense an.docxAbramMartino96
Homeland Security efforts are ably reinforced by Homeland Defense and Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA), which are missions executed by the Department of Defense (DOD), most specifically by the Combatant Command, United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM). In supporting the nation when requested by DHS, FEMA, or other lead federal agencies, or as directed by the president or the secretary of defense, DOD provides many unique capabilities for crisis response. One specific function used most notably during the post-Hurricane Katrina period was the use of airborne assets to provide damage assessments and to gauge the extent of the sea surge at various times during the recovery.
The function of deploying such assets is traditionally called
intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance
(ISR). Yet the U.S. military cannot legally collect intelligence on U.S. citizens. Consequently, the action, as performed during the hurricane recovery operations described here, is known as
incident awareness and assessments
(IAA). For some, the difference between these terms is merely semantics; for many, IAA differs both symbolically and practically from ISR, if not in how information is collected, then in how it is used and the motivation behind the collection. (The Web site for IAA reference is under Web sites references below.)
Assignment Guidelines
Address the following in 5–7 paragraphs:
Do you believe the distinction between ISR and IAA lies simply with terminology (and therefore there is little or no difference) or that there is a separation between the concepts? Explain and defend your answer fully. You may choose to research the topic more fully.
Contemplating the ethics of using IAA in the homeland, list at least 3 benefits of its use where ethics might potentially be secondary.
List at least 2–3 costs or opposing views to its use and how IAA—or the information gathered—might be misused or abused.
What if criminal activity (like acres of tended marijuana) was observed during IAA missions intended to conduct damage assessments? How should such information be handled?
Do you believe converting the term
intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance
to
incident awareness and assessments
for operations conducted in the homeland was wise or frivolous (or described otherwise)? Explain and defend your answer fully.
What is the value of using carefully selected terminology for operations in the homeland?
How does the symbolism of IAA potentially aid homeland security professionals in performing their jobs?
How does the symbolism of ISR potentially hinder homeland security professionals in performing their jobs?
Among the Web sites listed for this unit, you will find the Air Forces North (AFNORTH) Incident Awareness and Assessment Handbook, June 2010.
Why do you think this manual on IAA is available from open-source sites?
Do you think there might be ethical considerations to publicizing the use and purposes of IAA? Name and discuss at least 1.

Part A) A Reaction to Racism in American Literature, Art, and Music In the latter part of the 19th century, "Realism" became the dominant feature in American literature and influenced the Progressive Era writers of the early 20th century. In the years immediately following World War I, a number of American authors of the realist school began to explore race relations. Dramatists such as Eugene O'Neill and Paul Green wrote plays based on African American themes. O'Neill's The Emperor Jones (1920) and All God's Chillun Got Wings (1924) were immensely popular. Green won the Pulitzer Prize for In Abraham's Bosom, a play performed by a predominately African American cast in a period when few African American artists were able to find work outside vaudeville or minstrel shows. At the same time, a number of African American writers came to prominence writing novels and poetry based on their experiences as African Americans. This literary movement, originally centered in Harlem, New York, became known as the "Harlem Renaissance" (1920s-1930s). It was the outgrowth of a number of factors including the Great Migration to northern cities and the growing anger over both overt and covert racism. Authors, musicians, and painters gathered in Harlem and in other large urban areas throughout the North and developed a distinctly African American cultural movement cognizant of the political, economic, and social issues of prejudice and discrimination that were part of the Black experience in America. Historians have described the Harlem Renaissance as a period in which the African American writer ". . . had achieved a degree and kind of articulation that make it possible for him to transform his feelings into a variety of literary forms. Despite his intense feelings of hate and hurt, he possessed sufficient restraint and objectivity to use his materials artistically, but no less effectively." (John Hope Franklin, From Slavery to Freedom: A History of African Americans, .

THE CASE OF JIM
SEMANTIC DIFFERENTIAL: PHENOMENOLOGICAL THEORY
Jim completed ratings of the concepts self, ideal self, father, and mother using the semantic differential (
Chapter 5
), a simple rating scale. Although the semantic differential is not the exact measure recommended by Rogers, its results can be related to Rogerian theory since its procedures have a phenomenological quality and assess perceptions of self and ideal self.
First, consider how Jim perceives his self. Based on the semantic differential, Jim sees himself as intelligent, friendly, sincere, kind, and basically good—as a wise person who is humane and interested in people. At the same time, other ratings suggest that he does not feel free to be expressive and uninhibited. Thus, he rates himself as reserved, introverted, inhibited, tense, moral, and conforming. There is a curious mixture of perceptions: being involved, deep, sensitive, and kind while also being competitive, selfish, and disapproving. There is also the interesting combination of perceiving himself as being good and masculine but simultaneously weak and insecure. One gets the impression of an individual who would like to believe that he is basically good and capable of.
History of an argument Are there too many people There h.docxAbramMartino96
History of an argument: Are there too many people?
There have been several points in history at which someone has argued that we have too many people, and that this will be a problem.
Please do some research and choose at least one of these arguments to discuss in some detail in a paper of about 2-3 pages.
Who was making the argument?
Which people were identified as being too many?
Was a solution proposed, and if so, what was it?
Did the predicted overpopulation crisis come to pass, and why or why not?
How many people would be about right?
How many are too many?
Who decides?
What are the criteria for the decision?

Historical Background of Housing PolicyHousing is one of the requi.docxAbramMartino96
Historical Background of Housing Policy
Housing is one of the requirements in human life
(not true!)
. Therefore,
it
greatly influences the day to day life of citizens in a country as well as the country's economy. As a result of
its
importance, there
should be
secure policies in the state that protect citizens against exploitation and the economy of the nation
This is not a neutral statement of the evidence
(Turis, 2011).
Good
housing provided with essential social amenities means healthy lives for the citizens since
they will be enjoying all the services
. Poor housing, for instance, can result in health issues for the individuals of a given society. Crime rates are also found to be higher in places with inadequate housing and this
becomes a threat
may be a threat
to the security of the community.
The housing policy
,
??????
therefore, was formed
so as to
address the housing challenges facing the nation and its citizens (Turis, 2011).
indent
To deal with the housing problems
(what housing problems?)
the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program
(The correct name is Section 8 of the Housing Act of 1937 (42 U.S.C. § 1437f)
was established in 1974 as the Housing Act (Turis, 2011). This housing policy enables low income earners
to pay for houses of their choice
in the private market. The state funds the program and as a result, it benefits over five million low-income families as it enables them to pay for the housing
with ease
. Provision of
the
vouchers is one of the
policies
ways
in which
the state addresses the housing problem for its citizens (Turis, 2011). Compared to other policies
such as….
, vouchers provide a wider range of shelter and they are less expensive. For the low-income earners to use the vouchers, the kind of houses they find
should not
exceed the maximum allowable rent by the vouchers and must be in line with the program policies. The program also
covers a wide variety of houses
which include single family home; this was aimed at small families. Apartments and houses in towns are also covered by the program.
This description of the HCV is not clear.
indent
The housing voucher programs is managed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (Kotz, 2012)
.
Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) are
the ones
responsible for carrying out the local programs outlines
(Kotz, 2012)
.
The mode of operation of this program is that an individual finds a suitable house for them to live and they pay rent to the landlords. The subsidy for the rent is paid by the PHAs to the owners of the house directly, and the person receiving such voucher will have to pay the remaining amount of money to the landlord (Kotz, 2012)
.
Therefore, in this program, the kind of benefits the citizens receive is subsidies on the rent they pay to the owners. A Certain amount is paid by the PHAs on the behalf of the low-income families, which makes houses relatively cheaper for citizens to choose where they want to li.

The Case of Phineas Gage
One of the best-known clinical cases
involved a dramatic injury to an unfortunate railroad worker, Phineas Gage. One day in 1848, he was working on track construction near Cavendish, Vermont. While Gage was placing an explosive charge, a spark of metal against rock set off the charge, sending a long metal tamping rod flying upwards. The rod entered Gage's head just below the left eye, and exited from the tab of his skull, somewhat forward of left center. Remarkably, Gage survived (though he was blinded in his left eye). Even more remarkably, his behavior changed dramatically. Whereas Gage had previously been likeable and responsible, he became erratic, and given to terrible fits of temper. Sadly, he spent his remaining years wandering around the United States, displaying the hole in his skull and the iron rod which had brought him such grief.
Gage's story has been a source of endless fascination ever since. (His skull, and the iron rod, is still on display in the Harvard Medical School museum.) Given the pathway of the rod through his head, it would seem that the injury extensively damaged the association areas of the left frontal lobe. The behavioral changes, especially in emotionality, have been used as evidence that this region is involved in the expression of emotion. (A view seconded by advocates of
frontal lobotomies
in the 1940's and '50's.)

Mexico? ths week's question for discussion
Weekly Discussion Board Response
The weekly discussion board response serves as a forum for students to participate and discuss assigned readings with classmates and the professor. This weekly assignment is broken down into 2 parts: (1) your response and (2) commenting on two other posts. The class has been organized to include the same amount of readings as a class that would meet in person. Each student is required to write a response about the Tuesday reading by Thursday – no later than 6:00 PM EST (I am including eastern standard time because several students are taking the class while outside of the country).
Students are expected to write responses that are three paragraphs in length and demonstrate a strong understanding of the themes, events, and people contained in the readings. In addition, each student must pick two other student posts and comment on their response for the week. Comments should be constructive, thoughtful and focused. The purpose of the each student’s comment response is to promote dialogue between students that would typically occur in a classroom setting. Comments should be one paragraph.
Weekly Response Paper
Students are responsible for writing a response paper at the end of each week. The paper’s topic will draw from the readings assigned for that week. The paper’s question (or set of questions) will build off the weekly discussion response. The purpose of the weekly response paper is for students to demonstrate that they have completed the assigned readings and can critically apply the material to larger questions of history and political economy. The paper should follow the basic format of: introduction, body, conclusion, and footnotes that follow the Chicago-style format (do not cite in the body of the text). All papers should contain the student’s own, individual voice that is supported with evidence and facts drawn from the assigned readings. Other secondary sources used to complement or strengthen your argument are acceptable, however Wikipedia entries and blog posts are not acceptable as sources.
It was very interesting to see the different race relations and concepts Alan Knight touches upon in his essay. One major claim that he points upon is the mestizo concept that coincides with Indian racism. Within this concept, he uses first hand references that have witnessed this racism and have also offered diagnostics on this idea as well.
As Knight explores two individual groups and their history, the racist his.

Despite his intense feelings of hate and hurt, he possessed sufficient restraint and objectivity to use his materials artistically, but no less effectively." THE CASE OF JIM
The usual formatting and proper mechanics of good writing apply.

Medical Imagining Through Healthcare
When we come to think of it, choosing a career is by far one of
the most difficult decisions an adult can make. For some, that
decision is chosen for them, whether it’s a business that’s being
passed down or through the influence of others around them. Up
2. until my senior year of high school, I had no idea what I wanted
to do for the rest of my life. That was until I took an anatomy
class and a class called Independent Study Mentorship (ISM). In
ISM, we were required to find a career of interest and a
professional in the field who you would "shadow" once a week
for the entire year. I knew I was good at math so the career I
chose was accounting. For many reasons, such as finding it
quite boring, I quickly realized that this wasn’t the career for
me. In my anatomy class, however, I found a passion in the
health industry. It was by far the most difficult class I've
enrolled in however; it has also been the most exciting class
I've ever taken. I remember looking forward to the class, even
when studying for exams, as I would challenge myself to get
above a 95. Since then, I knew I had found my passion in
health. Through several hours of research, the career I am most
interested in is Radiology. When I took The Clifton Strengths
Assessment for Students, my top trait was a relator, which
means I excel in developing relationships and I am able to make
people realize how much I care about them. My other four
strengths were arranger, meaning I am very organized,
deliberative, meaning I anticipate obstacles and am a good
decision maker, responsibility, meaning I take ownership of my
actions and am committed to my values, and lastly consistency,
which means I make a strong point to treat everyone equally and
thrive under routine behavior (Clifton, 2019). I believe all of
my traits make me the perfect candidate for my career choice
because they confirm that I am responsible enough to work in
the medical field and will be skilled at anticipating the next
step. Being organized is very helpful in any career path as well
and will only serve to enhance my other qualities. I also believe
my last trait of consistency might be the most important;
treating everyone with the same level of care is the only way to
ensure the best results for everyone who walks through those
hospital doors, which ultimately leads to the most lives saved.
Job Responsibilities
A Radiologist is a medical professional who specializes in
3. medical imaging to make a diagnosis. A radiologist main job
responsibility is to comprehend and interpret diagnostic
imagining which may include; CT scans (Computed
tomography), MRI's (Magnetic resonance imaging), and
ultrasounds (Career Coach, 2018). The main function of a CT
scan is to create a 3-D image through the use of x-rays. An
MRI, however, uses magnetic fields to create a more detailed
image that shows soft tissue, joint, tendons and ligaments.
Ultrasounds use sound waves to view the internal
structure/organs inside of the body (WebMD, 2018). According
to Occupational Outlook Handbook (2018), the expected
employment growth rate between 2016-2026 is 13%,
Occupational Outlook Handbook (2018), the expected
employment growth rate between 2016-2026 is 13%, and the
median wage of a physician is equal to or greater than $208,000
per year.
Education
To become a radiologist, not only will you need several years of
education, but it also takes several years of practice. According
to Occupational Outlook Handbook (2018), your first step is to
acquire a bachelor's degree from a university. This bachelor's
degree doesn’t necessarily have to be health related. You just
have to make sure you take the prerequisites the medical school
requires. During your last 2 years of college, you should begin
studying for the MCAT, which is an exam you have to take to
apply to medical school. Medical school consist of a total of 4
years in which the first two years you will be mostly learning
from lecture, while the last two you will begin medical
rotations. After medical school, you will need to take 4 years of
radiology residence and finally a 1-2 years fellowship (Bureau
of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, 2018).
Lifestyle
The lifestyle I intend to live is one that'll allow me to support
my future family. I plan on having 1-2 children and according
to Texas Reality Check (2016), it'll cost about $2,162 every
month to support them. Because I plan on having a family, I
4. plan to live in a home that'll cost about $1,285 a month. Some
necessary expenses include: utilities, food, transportation,
clothing, health care, and student debt. These overall expenses
come out to about $2,429 a month. Which leaves personal care,
entertainment, miscellaneous, and savings, and that comes out
to $672 a month. In full, my monthly expenses come out to
$6,548, which gives me a total of $98,220 annual expenses. The
national annual salary of a physician is about $208,000 so
because of this, I should have enough money to maintain the
lifestyle I plan on living. The remaining balance will go towards
an emergency fund, retirement savings, college fund and
vacation.
Expected Expenses
When comparing the annual salary needed to maintain my future
lifestyle, I was taken back by the cost difference required to
live in different parts of the US. For example, in Houston TX, I
need about $100,000 a year. According to Cable News Network
(2018), to live in San Antonio, TX I need about $90,000 to
maintain the same lifestyle. This is due to the 1% decrease in
groceries, 26% decrease in housing, 21% decrease in utilities,
5% decrease in transportation, and 3% decrease in healthcare. I
chose San Antonio because before I moved to Houston, I lived
in San Antonio and I really enjoyed living there. However, if I
wanted to live in San Diego, CA, because of the beautiful
beaches and scenery, the cost of living dramatically increases to
about $150,000. This is due to the 32% increase in groceries,
127% increase in housing, 6% increase in utilities, 26% increase
in transportation, and 17% increase in healthcare. I have a lot of
my family living in New York so I was curious to see how much
it would cost me to live in Manhattan, NY. It would take about
$250,000 to live in New York. It absolutely blew my mind to
see that just the housing difference from Houston to New York
increases by 372%! Other contributing factors included the 59%
increase in groceries, 33% increase in transportation, and 26%
increase in healthcare. It was shocking to see how the cost of
living is so dependent on your geographic location.
5. Volunteering
Because I plan on pursuing a medical profession, volunteering
is a lot easier to find than other professions. When I looked on
VolunteerMatch (2018), I found over 91 opportunities near
Katy, TX. A majority only required skills on relationship
building, customer service, and community outreach. The three
that stood out to me the most were: Aromatherapy Program for
hospice patients, BINGO with patients of disabilities at Vita-
Living, and the Hospice plus internship, externship, and
practicum. Although I think Volunteer Match is very helpful, I
think it's more beneficial to go to the nearest hospital to you
and ask about volunteer opportunities. Because you are face to
face with the medical professions, it shows that you are
genuinely interested in not only learning more about the
medical professions but also that you're interested in helping
out the community. Strong medical school applicants also have
several hours of volunteer work on their resumes.
Long-term Goals
My long-term career goal is to become a medical professional,
but more specifically a Radiologist by 2032. It'll take me a total
of about 14 years to become a radiologist in which I will be
around 32. In order to make this dream into a reality, I will need
to work very hard. The first step I need to take is to complete
college with an excellent GPA. The second step is to study a lot
for the MCAT and be accepted into medical school. The last
step is to work hard in med. school and maintain a high GPA to
become a competitive applicant for residency. Once all of these
steps are complete, I should be well on my way to becoming a
radiologist. Now I completely understand that life may not
always go the way we plan, and I need to understand that it will
not be easy. But if this is something that makes me happy, then
I will work hard and in the end my efforts will all be worth it.
Some obstacles I may find myself having to overcome may
include time management issues, distractions, and
procrastination. To overcome these obstacles, I must remember
my goals and surround myself with positive people who support
6. me. My life will be everything I've pictured it to be when I not
only enjoy my job but also get to come home to my beautiful
family.

7. Abstract - The Complexity of Sexuality 8
Abstract
Sexual orientations and identity is changing over time and
becoming more complex. Researches have shown that women
and men of all ages depend on the internet for their sexual
needs. Over time heterosexuality emerges, and now
homosexuality, bisexuality, and asexuality have become
common. The complexity of sexuality can be understood in
numerous ways, such as social, biological, and environmental.
This paper will focus on the social dimension of the complexity
of sexuality—the structure and acceptance of sexuality in
society and how these complex structures are prevailing in our
society. Identities and voices of different sexual groups are
emerging, such as Lesbian, LGBTQ, and homosexual groups.
Society is accepting their rights and raising voices for them.
Sexual orientation is used as a scale to measure sexual identities
or differentiate between attractions towards men or women.
There are researches available that address the emergence of
different sexual identities that will guide this paper and its
claim that the concept of sexuality is becoming complex. The
role of society and the internet would be evaluated because the
internet makes it easy to express and explore one's sexuality
without having fewer personal complications. Theoretical
analysis will be helpful used to correlate the historical sexual
beliefs with contemporary beliefs and attitudes. This paper will
provide an empirical overview of sexuality to readers and help
them understand how changing attitudes affect our society. This
paper will be helpful for readers to understand their complexity
of sexuality.

SEXUALITY RESEARCH PAPER 1
PROSPECTUS FOR COMPLEXITY OF SEXUALITY
RESEARCH PAPER 3
Sexuality is something that affects all individuals irrespective
of their gender. Nevertheless, it is a highly complex issue
thereby leading to diverse feelings, ideas, and opinions about
sexuality. The differences create confusion on how sexuality
10. should be addressed and this has led to some forms of sexuality
being preferred over others. It is important to understand that
sexuality is a natural thing and no single person should be
discriminated upon. However, this is only possible with clear
understanding of sexuality in all its complexity. In this research
paper, I intend to research sexuality from its complexity
perspective. The intention is to shed light on how complex
sexuality is; the reasons behind the complexity for instance
advancement and industrialization, and different types of
sexualities and how they differ as well as relate in other ways.
For the research, I will make use of e-books, peer-reviewed
journals, and scholarly articles to gather as much information as
possible. These types of sources have been found suitable for
the research because the issue of sexuality has been researched
in the past by other professional researchers and their research
articles are available online. Also, there are professional books
available online that have addressed sexuality in its entirety.
These different sources would be used to accumulate data that
will be combined to come up with sensible and valid data. the
more reason is that in some of these sources, there is first-hand
information from people with clear understanding and
experience on sexuality complexity. The information gathered
shall be phrased in a manner the audience would understand
how complex sexuality is and why it is important to treat people
from all types of sexualities with respect and dignity. Moreover,
the research will shed more light in why people of specific
sexuality behave the way they do in most cases differing from
people of a different sexuality.
