The Nazi doctors performed cruel medical experiments on Jews, Romani people, people with disabilities, and others that were often not scientifically valid and resulted in immense suffering and death. Some experiments aimed to help German soldiers but inflicted wounds, infections, hypothermia, sea water poisoning and more on victims without consent. The notorious Josef Mengele conducted experiments on twins and others, including attempts to create Siamese twins through brutal surgery without anesthesia. The Nazi ideology of racial purity justified these inhumane acts in the minds of the perpetrators.
