INSPIRATION WHEN MAKING IT, WAS THE
SCREAM TEASER TRAILER AS IT HAD THE

EDITING STYLE
THE STYLE OF EDITING IN A TEASER
TRAILER WOULD BE FAST PACE. BECAUSE
IF THE AUDIENCE ARE SHOWN TOO MUCH
FOOTAGE THEY MIGHT GET AN IDEA OF
WHAT THE FILM IS ABOUT AND THEREFORE
NOT BOTHER WATCHING IT. THIS CREATES

WAS USED IN OUR TRAILER TO ENGAGED AND
EXCITE THE AUDIENCE FOR THE FILM. IT
CREATES TENSION AND BUILDS UP THE STORYLINE. IT
MAKES EVERYTHING FLOW TOGETHER.
DIEGETIC SOUNDS LIKE VOICE SOUND EFFECT LIKE
CARS BIRDS ECT AND NON-DIEGETIC LIKE MUSIC AND
VOICEOVERS ECT. IF THERE WAS NO SOUND IT
WOULD BE INTERESTING AND
THE AUDIENCE WOULDN'T BE ENGAGED.
THIS IS WHY WE USED A SOUNDTRACK TO AGAIN
ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE WE USED SOUND BRIDGES
WHEN TRANSITIONING INTO ANOTHER SHOT.
NARRATIVE
THE STORYLINE IS SIMPLE AND DOESN'T GIVE TOO MUCH WAY. WHICH IS
SOMETHING I BELIEVE MY GROUP DID. IT ALLOWS THE AUDIENCE TO SEE
WHAT THE FILM HAS TO OFFER AND GET THEM EXCITED. SEEING AS
OURS IS A HORROR WE MADE SURE THAT AT THE END WE HAD A JUMPY
PART AS THIS IS SOMETHING IT HAS. IT ENGAGES THE AUDIENCES AND
HAS THEM DRAWN IN. FILMS I LOOKED AT WERE BLAIR WITCH AND THE
BYE BYE MAN. THESE HELPED US FIND WAY TO SHOW THE FILM WITHOUT
GIVING TOO MUCH AWAY.

THE CHARACTERS SHOWN IN THE MAIN CHARACTER DEPENDING ON
THE GENRE BUT IN A ACTION FILM IT WOULD BE THE HERO THEN
HIS HELP. THE VILLAIN AND MAYBE HIS FRIENDS. OR A
FAMILY MEMBER. HOWEVER IN OUR WE SHOULD THE TWO
YOUTUBERS AND THE VILLAIN BUT WE DON’T GIVE MUCH AWAY .
CHARACTERS HAVE A HUGE PART IN A TRAILER AND DRAW THE
AUDIENCE IN.

OUR FILM TITLE ISN'T AT THE END BUT IT IS CLOSE TO IT . THIS IS
TO CREATE TENSION AND BUILD UP TO THE ENDING. I THINK THAT
IT IS DONE SO THAT WHEN ALL THE GOOD SCENES HAVE COME
THEY WANT THE AUDIENCE TO BE IN SHOCK AND BE EXCITED FOR
THE FILM. THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE TRY TO DO. FILM LIKE IT , GET
OUT ETC ARE FILM WE LOOKED AT TO GET THIS LOOK.

DIFFERENT AS MOST HORROR FILMS HAVE A LEAD
MALE. WE MADE SUREOUR FEMALES WEREN'T
SEXUALIZED AND CAME ACROSS STRONG.FROM
LOOKING AT OTHER TRAILER WE SAW THAT MOST
HORROR FILMS NOWADAYSFEATURE A
DEMONEG INSIDIOUS,PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. IT
LOOKS DIFFERENTAND IT WAS EASIER FOR US TO
SHOW THIS. IN TRAILER YOU CAN TELL WHO THE
MAIN CHARACTER IS GOINGTO BE,IN THE FILM
DON’TBREATHETO USE OF A CLOSE OF THE GIRL IN
THE BEGINNINGSETSTHE SCENEAND ALLOWS THE

WE LOOKED A LOT AT THE COLOR AS THIS MAKES A
HORROR FILM DIFFERENT. THE USE OF LOW KEY
LIGHTING SETS THE MOOD AND ALLOWS THE
AUDIENCE TO BE ENGAGED WHICH IS
SOMETHING WE TRIED TO DO. WE USED THE
COLOR BLACK WHITE AND RED. AS THESE
COLORS TOGETHER CONVEY POWER, EVIL,
BLOOD, FEAR ETC. AN EXAMPLE OF THIS WOULD
BE THE WRONG HOUSE AS EVEN IN DAYLIGHT THE
STILL HAS A WAY OF BRINGING IN LOW KEY
LIGHTING. FOR EXAMPLE THE WAY WE EDITED
THE TEASER IT LOOKS DARK THROUGHOUT AND
THE TEXT IS LOOKS AS THIS STANDS OUT BUT
WORKS WELL WITH EVERYTHING EG IF WE HAD
YELLOW IT WOULDN'T WORK WELL. THE USE OF
PROPS IS HUGE AS THIS HELPS ESTABLISH THE
FILM WE ARE MAKING EG OUR COSTUME THE USE
OF HAVING OUTDOOR CLOTHING AS OUR
CHARACTER ARE CAMPING WE DID RESEARCH IN
WHAT THEY SHOULD WEAR AS WE WANT THE
AUDIENCE TO KNOW WHAT THE CHARACTERS

POSTER – OUR POSTER IS BRITISH INDEPENDENT FILM SO

STARS NOT TO PUT THEIR NAMES ON TOP. EG SHAUN OF
THE DEAD AS IT JUST PUT THE FACE OF ACTORS ON THE
POSTER. THIS IS WHY I MAIN IMAGE WOULD BE OUR
SELLING POINT. THIS IS WHY OUR MAIN IMAGE OF THE
WOODS WOULD ATTRACT OUR AUDIENCE IT IS PLACED IN
THE CENTRE. WE DIDN’T ADD ANY FILM AWARDS OR
REVIEWS WHICH COULD BE SEEN AS BAD AS HOW DO
PEOPLE KNOW IF THE FILM IS ANY GOOD. THE TITLE IS IN
MIDDLE AND COLOR HAVE DEEPER MEANINGS. EG THIS IS
ENGLAND THE COLORS REPRESENT THE BRITISH FLAG AND
SUGGEST UNION. THE FILM COMPANY WE PUT AT THE
BOTTOM SO PEOPLE KNOW WHO IS BEHIND THE MOVIE.
USUALLY IT HAS THE DATE IT COMES OUT BUT WE PUT
COMING SOON, AS THIS CAUSES SUSPENSE. THE POSTER
THAT HELPED US A LOT WAS THE BLAIR WITCH AS THIS
WAS THE KIND OF LOOK WE WANTED AS IT DIDN’T HAVE
THE ACTORS NAME BUT IT DID HAVE A TAGLINE WHICH WE
DIDN’T HAVE BUT I DON’T THINK THIS CHANGED THE LOOK
OUR POSTER OR MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE. THE IMAGE
SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. BUT WE DID HAVE SOMETHING IN
COMMON WITH MOST POSTERS IN HORROR AS IT DIDN’T
HAVE THE ACTOR BUT THE SETTING THIS ENGAGES THE

HOWEVER OUR ONE IS DIFFERENT AS IT REACHES 54 SECONDS HOWEVER SOMETHING WE LOOKED AT FOR INSPIRATION WHEN MAKING IT, WAS THE SCREAM TEASER TRAILER AS IT HAD THE SAME LENGTH AND IT SHOT AND TO THE POINT. IT WAS ALSO A HORROR FILM. EDITING STYLE THE STYLE OF EDITING IN A TEASER TRAILER WOULD BE FAST PACE. BECAUSE IF THE AUDIENCE ARE SHOWN TOO MUCH FOOTAGE THEY MIGHT GET AN IDEA OF WHAT THE FILM IS ABOUT AND THEREFORE NOT BOTHER WATCHING IT. THIS CREATES MYSTERY. THE USE OF STRAIGHT CUTS ARE USED USUALLY DEPENDING ON THE GENRE IT MIGHT HAVE SPECIAL EFFECTS. THIS IS SOMETHING WE USED IN OUR TEASER. AS THIS IS SOMETHING DONE IN A HORROR TRAILER AS IT MAKES IT MORE DRAMATIC. WE AGAIN USED THE TRAILER SCREAM TO HELP US DO THIS AS THIS WAS SOMETHING WE AIMED FOR. SOUND THE USE OF BOTH NON-DIEGETIC / DIEGETIC SOUND WAS USED IN OUR TRAILER TO ENGAGED AND EXCITE THE AUDIENCE FOR THE FILM. IT CREATES TENSION AND BUILDS UP THE STORYLINE. IT MAKES EVERYTHING FLOW TOGETHER. DIEGETIC SOUNDS LIKE VOICE SOUND EFFECT LIKE CARS BIRDS ECT AND NON-DIEGETIC LIKE MUSIC AND VOICEOVERS ECT. IF THERE WAS NO SOUND IT WOULD BE INTERESTING AND THE AUDIENCE WOULDN'T BE ENGAGED. THIS IS WHY WE USED A SOUNDTRACK TO AGAIN ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE WE USED SOUND BRIDGES WHEN TRANSITIONING INTO ANOTHER SHOT.
  • 3. NARRATIVE THE STORYLINE IS SIMPLE AND DOESN'T GIVE TOO MUCH WAY. WHICH IS SOMETHING I BELIEVE MY GROUP DID. IT ALLOWS THE AUDIENCE TO SEE WHAT THE FILM HAS TO OFFER AND GET THEM EXCITED. SEEING AS OURS IS A HORROR WE MADE SURE THAT AT THE END WE HAD A JUMPY PART AS THIS IS SOMETHING IT HAS. IT ENGAGES THE AUDIENCES AND HAS THEM DRAWN IN. FILMS I LOOKED AT WERE BLAIR WITCH AND THE BYE BYE MAN. THESE HELPED US FIND WAY TO SHOW THE FILM WITHOUT GIVING TOO MUCH AWAY. CHARACTERS THE CHARACTERS SHOWN IN THE MAIN CHARACTER DEPENDING ON THE GENRE BUT IN A ACTION FILM IT WOULD BE THE HERO THEN HIS HELP. THE VILLAIN AND MAYBE HIS FRIENDS. OR A FAMILY MEMBER. HOWEVER IN OUR WE SHOULD THE TWO YOUTUBERS AND THE VILLAIN BUT WE DON’T GIVE MUCH AWAY . CHARACTERS HAVE A HUGE PART IN A TRAILER AND DRAW THE AUDIENCE IN.
  • 4. FILM TITLE OUR FILM TITLE ISN'T AT THE END BUT IT IS CLOSE TO IT . THIS IS TO CREATE TENSION AND BUILD UP TO THE ENDING. I THINK THAT IT IS DONE SO THAT WHEN ALL THE GOOD SCENES HAVE COME THEY WANT THE AUDIENCE TO BE IN SHOCK AND BE EXCITED FOR THE FILM. THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE TRY TO DO. FILM LIKE IT , GET OUT ETC ARE FILM WE LOOKED AT TO GET THIS LOOK. KEY INFORMATION THE DATE OF THE FILM COMING OUT. AS WELL AS SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS E.G. FACEBOOK AND TWITTER. AS WELL AS BEING ABLE TO SEE THE FILM IN 3D OR IMAX. IT SAYS THE DIRECTORS NAME AND THE ACTORS TOO. HOWEVER THIS IS SOMETHING WE DIDN’T DO. WE JUST SAID IT WAS COMING OUT SOON. AND MENTIONED THE PEOPLE IN THE PRODUCTION FOR THE FILM. BUT SEEING AS IT IS A TEASER WE DON’T WANT TO GIVE TOO MUCH AND LEAVE THE AUDIENCE WANTING MORE.

  • 6. GENRE CONVENTIONS WHEN LOOKING AT THE NARRATIVE FOR HORROR IT CONSISTS OF A CREEPY AND SCARY LOOKING VILLAIN OUT TO KILL PEOPLE. FOR OUR FILM WE MADE SURE IT WAS EASY TO UNDERSTAND THIS IS WHY OUR STORYLINE WAS SIMPLE AND TO THE POINT IT FOCUSES ON TWO YOUTUBER THAT GO THE WOODS THAT IS SAID TO BE HAUNTED. WE LOOKED AT MANY EXAMPLES SUCH AS, SCREAM, BLAIR WITCH, IT, GET OUT TO FIND DIFFERENT AND INTERESTING WAYS. WE USED THE YOUTUBE AS OUR SELLING POINT AS THIS MADE IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER FILM. IT USUALLY FEATURES A GROUP BUT WE MADE IT 2 GIRLS. HORROR CHARACTERS THE MAIN PROTAGONIST,OFTENTHE “VICTIM/HERO” OF THE MOVIE. THE VILLAIN, OFTEN A MONSTER,MUTATED FREAK, ALIEN OR SERIAL KILLER. OUR LEAD IS A FEMALE WHICH IS DIFFERENT AS MOST HORROR FILMS HAVE A LEAD MALE. WE MADE SUREOUR FEMALES WEREN'T SEXUALIZED AND CAME ACROSS STRONG.FROM LOOKING AT OTHER TRAILER WE SAW THAT MOST HORROR FILMS NOWADAYSFEATURE A DEMONEG INSIDIOUS,PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. IT LOOKS DIFFERENTAND IT WAS EASIER FOR US TO SHOW THIS. IN TRAILER YOU CAN TELL WHO THE MAIN CHARACTER IS GOINGTO BE,IN THE FILM DON’TBREATHETO USE OF A CLOSE OF THE GIRL IN THE BEGINNINGSETSTHE SCENEAND ALLOWS THE AUDIENCE TO KNOW WHO IS THE MAIN FOCUS AS SHE GET A LOT OF CAMERA TIME. WHEN LOOKING AT SETTING AND LOCATION, WE MADE SURE OUR LOCATION WAS CREEPY AND SET THE MOOD. THIS IS WHY WE MADE SURE WE USED THE WOODS AS THIS WAS OUR STORYLINE AND IT WAS EASY FOR US TO PORTRAY THIS. THE FILM BLAIR WITCH HELPED US A LOT WHEN CREATING OUR TEASER AS LOCATION IS VERY IMPORTANT IT GIVES THEM A UNDERSTANDING OF WHERE THE PLOT WHERE TAKE PLACE. A FILM LIKE JAWS IS A GREAT EXAMPLE AS THE BEACH IS WHERE ALL THE HORROR HAPPENS IT HELPS GIVE THE NARRATIVE BUT DOESN’T GIVE TOO MUCH AWAY. US USING THE WOODS HELPED THE AUDIENCE UNDERSTAND THE PLOT BETTER. ICONOGRAPHY WE LOOKED A LOT AT THE COLOR AS THIS MAKES A HORROR FILM DIFFERENT. THE USE OF LOW KEY LIGHTING SETS THE MOOD AND ALLOWS THE AUDIENCE TO BE ENGAGED WHICH IS SOMETHING WE TRIED TO DO. WE USED THE COLOR BLACK WHITE AND RED. AS THESE COLORS TOGETHER CONVEY POWER, EVIL, BLOOD, FEAR ETC. AN EXAMPLE OF THIS WOULD BE THE WRONG HOUSE AS EVEN IN DAYLIGHT THE STILL HAS A WAY OF BRINGING IN LOW KEY LIGHTING. FOR EXAMPLE THE WAY WE EDITED THE TEASER IT LOOKS DARK THROUGHOUT AND THE TEXT IS LOOKS AS THIS STANDS OUT BUT WORKS WELL WITH EVERYTHING EG IF WE HAD YELLOW IT WOULDN'T WORK WELL. THE USE OF PROPS IS HUGE AS THIS HELPS ESTABLISH THE FILM WE ARE MAKING EG OUR COSTUME THE USE OF HAVING OUTDOOR CLOTHING AS OUR CHARACTER ARE CAMPING WE DID RESEARCH IN WHAT THEY SHOULD WEAR AS WE WANT THE AUDIENCE TO KNOW WHAT THE CHARACTERS ARE DOING.
  • 7. INSTITUTIONAL CONVENTIONS POSTER – OUR POSTER IS BRITISH INDEPENDENT FILM SO WE MADE SURE THAT AS OUR ACTOR WOULDN’T BE HUGE STARS NOT TO PUT THEIR NAMES ON TOP. EG SHAUN OF THE DEAD AS IT JUST PUT THE FACE OF ACTORS ON THE POSTER. THIS IS WHY I MAIN IMAGE WOULD BE OUR SELLING POINT. THIS IS WHY OUR MAIN IMAGE OF THE WOODS WOULD ATTRACT OUR AUDIENCE IT IS PLACED IN THE CENTRE. WE DIDN’T ADD ANY FILM AWARDS OR REVIEWS WHICH COULD BE SEEN AS BAD AS HOW DO PEOPLE KNOW IF THE FILM IS ANY GOOD. THE TITLE IS IN MIDDLE AND COLOR HAVE DEEPER MEANINGS. EG THIS IS ENGLAND THE COLORS REPRESENT THE BRITISH FLAG AND SUGGEST UNION. THE FILM COMPANY WE PUT AT THE BOTTOM SO PEOPLE KNOW WHO IS BEHIND THE MOVIE. USUALLY IT HAS THE DATE IT COMES OUT BUT WE PUT COMING SOON, AS THIS CAUSES SUSPENSE. THE POSTER THAT HELPED US A LOT WAS THE BLAIR WITCH AS THIS WAS THE KIND OF LOOK WE WANTED AS IT DIDN’T HAVE THE ACTORS NAME BUT IT DID HAVE A TAGLINE WHICH WE DIDN’T HAVE BUT I DON’T THINK THIS CHANGED THE LOOK OUR POSTER OR MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE. THE IMAGE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. BUT WE DID HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON WITH MOST POSTERS IN HORROR AS IT DIDN’T HAVE THE ACTOR BUT THE SETTING THIS ENGAGES THE AUDIENCE. HORROR MAGAZINE –SEEINGAS OUR IS A INDEPENDENTWE DIDN’TPUT IT ON A BRITISH MAGAZINE EG SIGHT SOUND. WE USEDA HIGHER MAGAZINE BRAND EG EMPIRE AS THIS WOULD REACH ALL AUDIENCE AROUND THE WORLD AS HUGE MOVIE FILMS FEATURE ON THE MAGAZINE. THE MAIN ACTORS FEATURE AT THE FRONT WHICH IS WHAT WE DID AND MADE SURE THE CHARACTER LOOKED LIKE THEIR CHARACTERS WITH MAKEUP AND COSTUME. THE USE OF SELL LINES SEEINGAS IT’S A HIGH END MAGAZINE WOULD FEATURE HUGE CELEBSBUT INSTEAD WE USEDRANDOM NAMES.WE HAD THE MASTER HEAD TO MAKE IT LOOK THE PART AS CREATING OUR OWN WOULD HAVE BEENHARD. WE CHANGE UP THE MAGAZINE AS HORROR FILMS DON’T FEATURE ON EMPIRE. A GREAT EXAMPLE WOULD BE THE MAGAZINE COVER TRAINSPOTTINGAS THIS WAS A BRITISHINDEPENDENTFILM BUT IT FEATURED ON EMPIRE. BUT THE FILM HELL BOY IS A HORROR AND FEATURES ON EMPIRE WHICH HELPED US BACK UP OUR RESEARCH AND PLANNING. TEASER – LASTLY SEEING AS OUR TEASER IS A INDEPENDENT IT WOULDN’T FOCUS ON THE ACTORS BUT ON THE STORYLINE E.G. SHAUN OF THE DEAD. WE DIDN’T PUT THE ACTORS NAME AS THEY ARE UNKNOWN BUT THE STORYLINE IS OUR SELLING POINT AND MAKES THE AUDIENCE ENGAGED. THE SOUNDTRACK WOULDN’T FEATURE A HUGE ARTIST. FOR OUR SOUNDTRACK WAS CREATED ON GARAGE BAND.
