2. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? We did mimic some aspects of the horror/thriller genre, for example the eerie music and creepy child like voice at the end of the trailer. Also, we used a lot of W.O.B. which is very typical of horror films. But, we also challenged typicality’s of horror/thriller films, evidence of this would be that we stayed away from the gore often used in modern horror films. We also combined elements of mystery, by making the audience question not only who is ‘The Watcher’ but also what is he doing?

3. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Whilst our main product is the trailer we have tried to convey similar aspects in our poster and movie magazine cover, an example would be that our film’s title is prominent on all of the products.

4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? For the research stage we studied other media products from the horror/thriller genres. For instance, the location of part of our trailer is the woods, which was influenced by The Blair Witch Project. We used call sheets and marketing plan templates to construct scheduled plans for making our trailer, etc. For the poster, we looked at ‘The Sixth Sense.’ Finally, for the magazine front cover, we looked at ‘Total Film’ magazine and used some of their conventions.

5. If we could adapt anything what would we do? We think if we changed any aspects of the process, we would change the forest scenes from day to night, so that it was scarier and more typical of horror films, however, this would probably have made shooting harder in terms lighting, because of the outdoor setting not having any access to electricity.
