The Chase Fund was established in 2013 by CancerConnects and a local health advocate to provide financial assistance to non-breast cancer patients in Central New York. In 2014, generous donations from the community and special fundraisers allowed the Chase Fund to provide nearly $30,000 in assistance to cancer patients in need. This included $500 in gas and grocery cards for a father with late-stage colon cancer, $721 for supplemental health insurance premiums for a woman with lung cancer, and a special mortgage payment and heating fuel costs to prevent a 25-year employee with cancer from losing his home.

The intern group organized a food drive with Lutheran Settlement House to provide donations to over 50 senior citizens. They created flyers and emails to coworkers and collected $540 worth of cash and food donations. On the day of distribution, the interns bagged donations and played bingo with seniors. They exceeded their goal of $350 in donations and provided 55 seniors with food. The interns reflected that the experience showed the importance of giving back and making a difference in the community.

With more than 20 years of construction and development experience, developer Scott Fish leads Tennessee-based UP Development as principal. Outside of his work as a developer, Scott Fish has contributed to numerous organizations, including the Rotary Club of Franklin Noon, which has donated to charitable causes in Honduras for several years.

The Common Ground Health Clinic in New Orleans has been providing quality healthcare to the community since 2005. It started as a volunteer-run clinic and has expanded services over time. The Ypsilanti Area Community Fund (YACF) awarded SOS Community Services a $1,000 grant to increase access to their Choice food pantry from 4 times annually to 6 times plus an additional visit during holidays. The grant will help SOS provide food to over 140 households and distribute over 4,500 pounds of food each week. YACF has awarded over $32,000 in grants to 7 local organizations in 2014 and has raised over $2 million since its founding to support organizations in the Ypsilanti area.

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City provided over $3.4 million in professional services to over 16,000 people in 2014. They have 75 staff members and over 100 volunteers who provided over 62,000 hours of services. They provided services to people regardless of race, religion, or national origin. Over 90% of donations went directly to client services. Their largest programs were St. Joseph's Counseling which provided over $1 million in free counseling and Immigration Legal Services which provided over $1.6 million in legal aid. They received over $7.7 million in total revenue from sources like contributions, grants, and program fees.

Bringing it Back: How to Talk with Your Faith Community about Food Ministries

Healthy Churches Thrive!
The document describes a 18-month spiritual pilgrimage program called "Healthy Churches Thrive!" designed to help churches grow spiritually and increase their effectiveness. The program includes developing a vision team, leadership training videos, surveys, an onsite visit, a written report, and follow up coaching. 3) It advocates for social justice through the Joint Religious Legislative Coalition which educates elected officials and congregations on faith-based issues.

Part of a three-pronged process: This portion included: Discovery findings & Competitive audit -- for the non-profit: St. Vincent de Paul (a free dining kitchen for the East Bay/Oakland community, who has attached service programs for: Chef training, job search skills, Redux: recycling/art program, along with others & their retail/discount stores. We re-branded and gave them a new mission statement and tagline: "Neighbors helping neighbors"
