The paper proposes a new type of damper, called the magnet oil damper (MOD), designed to reduce seismic responses in two-story houses by integrating permanent magnets with silicon oil dampers. Experimental and numerical analysis demonstrate that the MOD significantly reduces the peak acceleration responses compared to traditional dampers, offering superior performance in mitigating vibrations during earthquakes. The results highlight the MOD's effectiveness in enhancing the structural resilience of houses against seismic events.
