The Extended Medical Degree Programme (EMDP) is a 6-year program for students with the potential for a medical career but who may not achieve the required exam results for a standard 5-year program. Students cover the same material as the 5-year program but at a slower pace over the first 3 years, using extra time for additional study sessions. By the end of the 6 years, EMDP students complete the same requirements and exams as students in the 5-year program and earn an identical medical degree.
This document discusses competency-based medical education (CBME) and its advantages over traditional medical education. It defines key terms like competence, competency, and competent. CBME focuses on outcomes, emphasizes abilities over time-based learning, and promotes learner-centeredness with segmented achievement and assessment. Unlike traditional education, CBME is outcome-based, integrative, learner-centered, and time-independent with individualized, workplace-based learning and assessment. Competencies are broken into milestones to be achieved over time, with formative assessment and feedback to ensure holistic competency development. CBME aims to produce competent Indian medical graduates by defining their roles and competencies to be developed through milestone-based learning and

This study aims to determine if a nurse-delivered discharge planning bundle that includes a follow-up phone call within 1 week of discharge will decrease rapid readmissions of patients with heart failure. The researchers will implement a discharge care bundle including patient education and a follow-up phone call on a hospital unit. They will compare rates of readmission before and after the intervention to see if the bundle reduces readmissions. The goal is to improve patient outcomes and lower healthcare costs for heart failure patients.
Integrity USMLE course uses standardized patients to simulate clinical cases and prepare medical students for the Step 2 CS exam. They provide small class sizes to give personalized attention. Their teaching style is practical and interactive, with MDs discussing cases with students. Their curriculum is up-to-date with exam changes and prepares students on components like ICE (patient notes, physical exams), CIS (checklists), and SEP (spoken English training). Classes are taught by experienced MDs and aim to help international medical graduates and doctors pass the Step 2 CS exam on the first attempt through focused training.
Milestones on the Road to Competency: Advancing Competency-based Graduate Med...ABIM Foundation
The document discusses the development of competency milestones in Graduate Medical Education (GME) by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). It describes how Internal Medicine and General Surgery have developed initial milestone frameworks and are working on implementation strategies. Key learnings from their work include: 1) Milestones should be developmental in nature and describe discrete behaviors, 2) Milestones can be bundled around assessing learners at critical skills levels, and 3) Assessment systems based on milestones should provide formative and summative feedback to stakeholders. Both specialties are continuing to refine their milestones and develop common evaluation tools.

The biomechanics of running involves the study of the mechanical principles underlying running movements. It includes the analysis of the running gait cycle, which consists of the stance phase (foot contact to push-off) and the swing phase (foot lift-off to next contact). Key aspects include kinematics (joint angles and movements, stride length and frequency) and kinetics (forces involved in running, including ground reaction and muscle forces). Understanding these factors helps in improving running performance, optimizing technique, and preventing injuries.
