Management by Objectives (MBO) is a technique where managers and employees work together to set, record, and monitor goals for a specific period of time. There are five steps to the MBO process: 1) translate objectives into goals, 2) monitor performance, 3) evaluate progress, 4) reward accomplishments, and 5) analyze. MBO has merits such as better management of resources and activities, realistic goal setting, and improving motivation and morale. However, there are also limitations like time and cost difficulties, achieving group goals, and problems with goal setting.
