Mount Mayon is an active volcano located in the Philippines that has erupted 50 times since 1616, with the most recent eruption in 2013 resulting in deaths and injuries. It is a symmetrical stratovolcano that is one of the most active globally, posing hazards from pyroclastic flows, mudflows, and ash falls that have caused large evacuations. Its most severe eruption in 1814 killed over 1200 people and destroyed villages. Tourists can visit Cagsawa Ruins Park for views of Mayon or take an ATV tour near its base.
