Mayawati is an Indian politician who has served four terms as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. She is the first Dalit woman to hold the position. Mayawati entered politics in 1984 with the formation of the Bahujan Samaj Party, of which she remains the national president. As Chief Minister, she implemented policies aimed at empowering Dalits and other lower castes. However, her administrations have also faced allegations of corruption. Despite criticism, Mayawati has emerged as a prominent Dalit leader in India.
