The newsletter provides updates about a Tesco store's community initiatives, including its new Community Food Connection program which donates surplus food to local charities. It highlights recent donations to Mid-Lin Day Care and upcoming fundraising events for charities like Diabetes UK and British Heart Foundation. The newsletter also describes the Bags of Help grant scheme and encourages local projects to apply before the June 3rd deadline.

Welcome to our second Community Newsletter!

involved in the local community.
With your help, the help of our customers; we can make a difference within
our community. For those of you who read our first newsletter you may have
noticed that our second edition is slightly later in the month. We’ve been
very busy with the launch of our new Community Food Connection which we
are thrilled to introduce in this months newsletter!

The Community Food Connection:
Community Food Connection is our new program which aims to redistribute
surplus food within Tesco stores. We donate items from every department,
including non-food, to charitable organisations each evening throughout the
week; and so far we have three charities. Our store still has 4 evening slots
available! So if you know of any local non-profit organisations or community
groups that offer food or meals to support their daily activities please contact
our Community Champion Richard or our Checkouts Manager Mandy.
On Wednesday this week our first group arrived to collect food donations.
Sean is from Mid-Lin Day Care, an organisation based in Dundee which
provides care to older people with disabilities. The donated food will allow
Seans team to provide hot healthy meals. He collected 4 boxes full of fresh
veg, bakery and grocery items and over half a dozen boxes of eggs. Our
colleague Angela presented him with some chocolates and a lovely bunch of
flowers as a welcoming gift to the Community Food Connection.
