B. INVESTIGATING PATTERNS
• Correctly show simplified algebraic expressions/ patterns for all sections of question 1 (see
opposite).

Correctly Substitute quantities given in Q2 and follow the algebraic pattern determined in Q1 to
determine the answer to the number of toys in each of the combination of boxes as detailed in
Q1.
C. COMMUNICATION
• Use the problems solving steps to clearly explain (in words and calculations) the logical steps
used to find the numbers of toys in each of the situations shown on the page opposite. NOTE:
Consider the situation shown in each part of Q1 and the quantities detailed in Q2 as one
problem I.e. find the algebraic expression Q1 and then solve the number of toys given the
quantities detailed in Q2.
