Material Handling Equipments is mechanical equipment used for the
movement, storage, control and protection of materials, goods and
products throughout the process of manufacturing, distribution,
consumption and disposal.
 Unit (palletized) Load movements.
 Globally Classified in eight classes i.e. Class I to Class VIII
• Class I – Battery Operated Forklift truck
• Class II – Narrow Aisle Equipment
• Class III – Pedestrian Equipment
• Class IV & V – Diesel Operated forklift truck
 Indian Material Handling market is about 10000 units (Class I -
Class V) per year.

• SIMHEM or Society of Indian Materials Handling Equipment Manufacturers is the only
Organization which epitomizes leading Manufacturers of Material Handling Equipment
Branded Aggregates & Attachments.
• SIMHEM provides a platform to its Members to communicate with each other and also
with International bodies and associations in the Material Handling Industry.
Objectives
• Promote & protect trade, commerce, manufacture and industries of India connected
with Material Handling industry.
• Interface with Government and Overseas Bodies to exchange beneficial information.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the development of
