2. The quake happen
• The earthquake has hit central Chile and killed
at least 214 people.
• The quake is 8.8 quake caused wide spread
damage.
• Destroying buildings, bridges, roads, electricity,
water and phone line.
3. Tsunami
• Several Pacific countries were hit by waves.
• In French, waves 6ft(1.8m) high swept ashore,
but there were not immediate reports of
damage.
• In Hawaii, residents in coastal area were
warned to move to higher ground.
4. How the earthquake
• The earthquake struck at 0634 GMT, 115km
north-east and 325km south-west area.
• It is the biggest quake to hit Chile in 50 years.
• At least 85 people died in the region of Maule
alone.
5. Aftershocks
• In Santiago, at least 13 people were killed.
• A fire at a chemical plant in the outskirts.
• The Santiago international airport will keep it
close for at least 72 hours.
6. Aftershocks 2
• Tsunami reached the Juan Fernandez island
group.
• The Tsunami reaching halfway into one
inhabited area.
7. Aftershocks 3
• Resident of Chillan, 100km from the epicentre.
• Other residents said communications were
down but running water was still available.
• The president Barack Obama said the US had
aid resources in position to deploy.
