Moore's Law, which predicts that the number of transistors on integrated circuits doubles approximately every two years, is expected to continue in 2010. However, rather than using the increased transistor density to create more powerful chips, chipmakers are likely to focus on producing "good enough" chips that use less power and are smaller. This reflects the current priorities in growth markets like mobile computing, where cost and power reductions are more important than increased processing speed. While Moore's Law will continue, its benefits may be realized through efficiencies rather than greater performance.
The document discusses various examples of interactive and unconventional advertising techniques used in traditional media like print magazines, newspapers, and radio. Some examples mentioned include ads that reveal images when heated in a microwave, print ads with scannable codes that trigger mobile content, and radio spots incorporating listener participation through call-in numbers. The Role of Play in Engaging the Youth Market - The StimuliPlaygroup
This slideshow presents a series of real life examples, mainly from the digital world, that you may or may not have heard of. These should help to:
- Create stimuli for a conversation or debate
- And provide inspiration for do’s and don’ts when it comes to creating your own genuinely playful projects
- Some of these come across as apparently playful - traditional ads and marketing with a veneer of irony, piss take and other youthful traits and behaviours.
- whereas others are well into the space of being genuinely playful - by engaging in truly playful behaviour with users and customers
- and some will be somewhere in the middle
Whilst looking at these, it’s worth asking ourselves:
- What constitutes a really genuine playful project?
- How can the success of real world events such as music festivals and life style sports events be transferred, retained and leveraged online?

The document proposes an idea for The Big Issue magazine to partner with Visa to provide contactless card readers to vendors. This would help vendors in an increasingly cashless society and promote Visa. It would change perceptions of vendors from charity cases to legitimate employees. Media would target areas of high contactless use like the underground. Overall the partnership aims to increase The Big Issue's circulation and challenge perceptions of homelessness.
Google conducted a study of viewability rates for digital ads using its Active View technology. It found that 56.1% of all impressions were not viewable, but the average publisher viewability rate was 50.2%. The findings provide guidance to advertisers on optimizing campaigns for viewability and to publishers on improving site viewability.

The cleanest test drive ever

Massive augmented reality campaign
from Toyota and agency Saatchi &
Saatchi to promote the new Auris
hybrid. The result, of course, is the
"cleanest test drive ever.“
Considering the Auris doesn't come
out until September, this looks like a
great way for Toyota to enable
consumers to take a test drive before
the car is even available.

Manual for the Elderly

Out of the Box is an experience designed for Samsung. It
educates the elderly on how to use their mobile phone (no
grandkids required!). In both of these examples, we see the
bridging of a familiar medium (the book) and cutting-edge
technology. Through this, designers are able to build on pre-
existing behavior while still presenting innovative new ideas.

20. Donald Duck Gets QR Coded
Egmont, the Danish publisher of Walt Disney’s
Donald Duck magazine, in cooperation with
Okari Mobile have published a special comic
edition with QR Codes. The comic features a visit
to Denmark by Donald and his nephews Huey,
Dewey and Louie with QR Codes in appropriate
places linking to sound and animation. This is the
first time a QR Code has been used in media for
children and there is something rather nice about
the fact that modern technology is introduced to
them by such a distinguished vintage cartoon
character.

Espresso Machine Personalizes Service
Through Mobile Phone Identification
Designers In-oh Yoo & Bong-yup Song have conceptualized an Android-
based espresso machine that acts like your local barista.
The Apresso can recognize who you are and know what type of coffee that
you like by communicating with your mobile device.
Additionally, the Apresso has built in speakers so you can download and
listen to the music that you like or the music that is written as a QR code on
the coffee capsule while your coffee is brewing or while you drink.
46. The World Park QR
The Gates was a site-specific work of art by Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The artists installed 7,503 vinyl "gates"
along 23 miles (37 km) of pathways in Central Park in New York City. From each gate hung a panel of
deep saffron-colored nylon fabric. The exhibit ran from February 12, 2005 through February 27, 2005.
The books and other memorabilia distributed by Christo and Jeanne-Claude refer to the project as The Gates,
Central Park, New York, 1979–2005 in reference to the time that passed from the artists' initial proposal until they
were able to go ahead with it.
The Gates were greeted with mixed reactions. Some people loved them for brightening the bleak winter
landscape; others hated them, accusing them of defacing the landscape. Some cyclists saw them as an
obstruction which could cause accidents[citation needed]
, although cycling is not legal on those paths. They received a
great deal of their nationwide fame as a frequent object of ridicule by David Letterman as well as Keith
Olbermann, whose apartment was nearby.
47. The World Park QR
http://www.theworldpark.com/nyc/
On Arbor Day Weekend, QR codes
were seeded across NYC's Central
Park, transforming it into a mobile
interactive experience. With web-
enabled smartphones and QR code
readers, users could explore "The
World Park" in a new way. Upon
scanning a code, users were
presented with educational trivia
about the park. Friends could
compete for the most correct answers
across categories like Science, Pop
Culture, Art, and History. After
attending, we wanted to learn more
about the project so we spoke with
Michael Ferrare, founder and owner of
Agency Magma, the group that put
the event together.

52. QR code short story competition
Through Twitter people are getting used to communicating in 140 characters or less, but can you
tell a story in 100 characters or less - and how would this look as a mobile phone QR code?
Last year QRcode.es ran a QR tales story competition, where people created short stories in QR
code format. (QR codes are essentially bar codes for mobile phones, you point your phone at the
code and if it has the right technology it will interpret this code as text or a web address.)
In 2008 332 tales were submitted from more than 15 different countries. The entries were
showcased in an online gallery and hard formats were displayed in an outdoor exhibition:

Hidden Sound - Case
“Promo and Activations”. Fantástico, não?
