Letter of Recommendation for Dr. Gary R. Carlson
To Whom It May Concern,
I met Dr. Carlson when he joined our congregation in Zionsville, IN, 10 years
ago. He became a trusted friend, and It quickly became apparent that he is a
natural leader, friendly, accessible, and is very competent across a variety of
disciplines.
As a consequence, within a brief period of time, he became an officer (and
finally President) of the congregation, played a major role in raising funds for a
new sanctuary and education wing far beyond what the outside experts had
predicted, and helped lead the congregation through some difficult
transitions.
I was so impressed with Gary, that I successfully nominated him to become a
Director of the Lutheran Child and Family Services Governing Board in
Indianapolis, IN. It was a deep personal pleasure to work with him, and see
here also him rise quickly to a leadership role. In that capacity he again used
his plethora of talents for both the short term and long term benefit of the
agency (some of these are outlined in his resume’).
Gary’s combination of skills across a broad field of education, and
development, energized by his dynamic and friendly approach to everything he
encounters makes him a dependable partner for growth and improvement in
whatever capacity he is asked to serve.
Most important, in all that he does, he is grounded and informed by the
Christian values of love, humility, service to those less fortunate, and
faithfulness to his friends, family and the tasks at hand.
