It is an honor a privilege to write this letter of recommendation for Cristy Smyth. I have known
Cristy for the last 2.5 years and I personally chose her to manage “The Sisterhood” a sober living
environment in Pleasant Hill, CA. It has been a pleasure to co-collaborate with Cristy daily on
creating an experience individually for each of the 12 women that reside at the Sisterhood;
while they begin their arduous journey to rebuild their lives and learn how to maintain their
sobriety. These women that come into the sisterhood are transitioning out of drug treatment
programs and other outer lying states. Cristy facilitates four process groups a week; co-
collaborates treatment planning dispositions and provides on-going case management within
the sisterhood.
Cristy holds many attributes that make her particularly well suited for the managerial position
at the sisterhood. She is bright; insightful and has this way of making each women feel held and
supported as they begin to trudge through difficult life circumstances such as early recovery;
mental health issues, divorce, legal issues and rebuilding their broken families.
Cristy has incredible work ethic. She is punctual, organized and motivated as a change agent to
get things done. She has an ability to think outside the box and be creative. She has a calm
disposition which she is able to maintain under duress. She holds the gift of bringing people
together in a way that is inclusive, fun and loving. Cristy’s “use of self” is extraordinary in
working with at-risk people; she is humble, genuine and truly comes from a place of being
helpful. She also has good boundaries and has earned great respect from the recovery
community.
