Proposal
The proposal of this survey is to give improved/ better WIFI coverag
e to the festival down town music venue. The funding for the project
has been given to us by the owner of the venue Mr Phillip Mc`crac
k.
The purpose of the WIFI project is to help enable the venue to self
advertise through social media during and after events as most custo
mers will upload photos and videos of where they are at the venue(s)
.
As the company we are resposible for instalation and testing of the v
enue in the surveyed areas allowing use of AP`s and not conflicting
with other networks.
Criteria Surveyed
research
 Check of walls
 Check seating area
 Cheacked VIP (enclosed) area
 Look at bar areas
Resources
 Building plans
 Images of previous venues
 Visual inspection of the site
 Stick AP`s
 Spectrum analyser
 Wifi analyser
 Xirrius WIFI designer
4
Method
Time for completion will require access to site for 5-10 days out of normal
working hours unless days venue is closed.#
Survey will be conducted outside of operating hours 1200hrs-2130hrs primar
ily in the morning as to allow for testing and checks in the evening hours
-estimated time for engineer 40 hrs
Prerequisites:
Plans need approving by local authorites (Ofcom) before comencement of w
ork
Full valuation of materials inside of venue
Instilation carried out by ____________________
With the 3 access points (AP) that will be installed it will provide capacity
of up to 300-400 people effectively.
Each AP location and components and tools have been carefully considered.
each AP will be POE (power over ethernet) which is wired into the po
wer mains aleviating any need for MESH networks, how ever should this n
eed arise another AP installation will need to be conducted as 3 AP`s are re
quired for loop back contingency.
As there are only 3 AP`s there is no need to require more than 3 channels
on 2.4ghz so operatin on channels 1,6,11 will be all that is required.
5
Floor Plan
AP Channels
Due to only having 3 AP`s in the venue that are operating on the duel band
so can operate on 2.4ghz and 5ghz we can use multiple channels without
any frequency collision problems allowing users to use the WIFI witho
ut any major problems due to back off.
Not using the 2.4ghz is mor ebenificial due to the fact that the 2.4ghz only
allows for three channel 1,6 and 11 meaning that channel crossover and inte
rfearence form the surrounding areas could/will be a potential issue for the
use of the network. Using the 5ghz will allows for more channels as ther
e are 8 channels meaning less likley interfearence from othe networks.
Having the duel band AP`s installed will allow for expansion at the venue a
nd little effort to the owner to do so, it will also increase the number of
channels availble should the surrounding area become more populated wit
h the same frequency channels and help to prevent interfearence from ot
her AP networks.
6
The TCP will evenly distribute power to the AP`s in the venue allowing
maximum signal for the designated areas EIRP.
AP Coverage Locations
2,4ghz +5ghz
AP Locations
AP 1- seating area Ap 2- VIP area
AP 3- bar area
7
Security
Using WPA2 this will allow sufficent security to the AP`s in the main part
of the building making certain that no outside attempts of hacking the AP n
etwork will become succesfull.
The custimers of the venue will be using an open network requiring their d
evices to log in to the networks in order to gain access to the WiFi.
In addition to this the VIP`s sweet AP will be operating on WPA2 secured
access requireing a password to acces the network to enable high profile
customers additional security for their devicesand privacey.
All AP`s will be operating on differnt SSID`s, the down stairs will share th
e same SSID and the VIP room will have its own SSID using a higher p
ower output than the two AP`s down stairs in order to facilitate the VIP
`s experince.
The AP`s will be using
 PSK (pre shared key) authentication
 CCMP,TKIP encryption
 AES (RC4) algorythm
 128 bit keysize
 48 bit IV
Backhaul
Using the existing back haul from the street we will be able to install the
WIFI AP`s effectively without having to implemant a backhaul into the pre
8
mises, as shown in images from google maps below.

Conclusion
After conducting a survey and starting a plan of the premises it is achievabl
e to implemant the 3 new access points (AP`s) into the premises with very
little or minimal disrutption to the work of both the premises staff and ins
tallation engineers.
Having this network installed will give excellent coverage to the customers
of this music venue and help promote the venue better in accordance with
the wishes of the owner.
