What is Marxism?
Marxism is a method of socioeconomic analysis that analyzes class
relations and societal conflict, which was primarily developed by
Karl Marx with the assistance of Friedrich Engels.
Marxism gained popularity in South Asia and Eastern Europe.
Marxism’s popularity would slowly dissolve in favor of more
“democratic” and “capitalist methods”
Origin of Marxism
Marxism was founded by two German philosophers by the names of
Friedrich Engels and Karl Marx.
The idea was released to the public on May 5th 1848, in the form of a
pamphlet called The Communist Manifesto.
The pamphlet was made in response to the growing exploitation of the
lower classes which was caused by advancing technology and capitalist
ideas
Purpose/Goal of Marxism
The purpose of Marxism is to identify:
Social injustices
Government mistreatment
Quality of class interaction
Class stereotypes
How to identify Marxism
A reader can recognize this lit crit by searching the literature for instances
of social inequality, and government mistreatment.
This might come in the form a poorer main character who is given trouble
by people of a higher social status.
The story might follow the path of an abusive government which enslaves
its people with torture and law.
