The Rural Community Energy Fund provides £15 million for community energy generation projects in rural areas. It offers grants up to £20,000 for feasibility studies and loans up to £130,000 for detailed pre-planning. So far it has received 99 feasibility study applications and awarded 61 grants totaling £980,000 for projects with a combined capacity of 55MW. Good applications clearly define the project idea, demonstrate community benefits, and provide evidence of community support and grid connection possibilities.

Broadband is essential to a thriving community – but it is not a panacea and it won’t work in a vacuum. Like a treadmill in the basement, broadband is only helpful when you use it. In this session, panelists from a variety of organizations working to support tech-based economic development strategies will discuss their own efforts, and provide the audience with ideas on how they can engage with their own providers around broadband-fueled economic development.
Energy Low Emission Development Strategies: A Regional Overview of Africa and...Worldwatch Institute
The Africa LEDS Partnership (AfLP) and the Energy Working Group (EWG) of the Low-Emission Development Strategies Global Partnership (LEDS-GP) co-hosted a webinar on sustainable energy progress in Africa. The webinar offers both an overview of recent developments in clean energy policies, programs, and targets across the region and in-depth case studies on Kenya’s and Cape Verde’s experiences in creating innovative, climate-compatible energy development approaches. Presenters outline the targets, policy objectives and implementation programs of these two leading African countries, providing insights into challenges encountered and how they were overcome.

Off-grid electrification for development of small islands represents a number of unique challenges under the broad category of rural electrification. Small, off-grid island communities are particularly vulnerable to diesel price fluctuations and natural disasters, and thus, enhancing resilience through more sustainable and cheaper energy technologies should be a key priority. Financing the transition to these technologies – usually photovoltaic, micro-hydro or sometimes wind – is an essential hurdle to overcome. Once electricity systems are in place it is equally important that they are sustained in the longer term with effective arrangements for operation and maintenance, cost recovery etc. Related to this, is the productive use of the energy provided to increase islander incomes.
The workshop on Bunaken Island, Sulawesi, Indonesia from 3 to 5 November 2015, organised by the Smart Villages Initiative in collaboration with Kopernik, will explore these issues and develop recommendations for policy makers, development agencies and other stakeholders in energy provision to island communities.

Getting to Grips with Clean Energy 15 March 2017Julie's Bicycle
Decarbonising electricity is a key measure for the UK to reach its target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% by 2050. You can help hitting this target by investing in renewables, either through on-site technology or driving demand through procurement. Here are our webinar slides to take a look through.
Bristol Energy Cooperative Bond Offer July 2017Andy O'Brien
Bristol Energy Cooperative (BEC) launches a new crowdfund to continue its journey to become a major generator of community-owned clean energy.
The crowdfund target of £1,150,000 will enable BEC to repay previous loans and invest in new micro-renewable generation and storage schemes. These include a 100kW Tesla battery storage project at a new sustainable housing site.
This bond offer builds on the popularity of BEC’s energy schemes where surplus profits are reinvested into the community. BEC has a proven track record of funding and developing renewables, including raising the ambitious sum of £10m last year.
Find out more in Director Andy O'Brien's presentation detailing BEC's plans for the future.

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

Unveiling the Secrets How Does Generative AI Work.pdfSam H
At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. It is like a sculptor who has studied so many forms found in nature and then uses this knowledge to create sculptures from his imagination that have never been seen before anywhere else. If taken to cyberspace, gans work almost the same way.
