Recommendation as book reviewer in Jewish music

1. Dear Ms. Vik:
I am writing to recommend Dr. David Levy to become a book reviewer for Notes Journal.
Dr. Levy is a Chief Librarian at Lander School at Touro College, New York. Dr. Levy is
in possession of an exceptionally broad and detailed knowledge of Jewish culture,
including the various strands of Jewish music. He is also extremely well informed about
European musical tradition.
I am a professional pianist and scholar in music cognition. As a professor at Touro
College, I had a pleasure of enjoying the conversations about music with Dr. Levy as
well as listening to his lectures about Jewish music when these lectures were presented to
my students. I believe that Dr. Levy’s expertise and passionate love for music could
greatly contribute to Notes journal.
