The Bearer of water is in fact an Aquarian, my birth date is the 13 th of February I am the Bearer. You might be justified in asking the bearer of what? It would be wise to be prepared for anything. Aquarians are like that. I have produced this PowerPoint, in the hope it will be used for a focus Group, in 2004. The agenda for the Focus Group is to try and alter the way that the Medical profession , treat people who have suffered Trauma. The Focus Group will present ART as an alternative, for the Trauma Victims to express themselves. I would like to thank Ian & Susan Lockwood for the request to have a trial run tonight. Liz Munro and the staff from TAFE have supported this project and for that I thank them, In particular Liz for her supervision, and assistance tonight in presenting this PowerPoint
I saw a similar” Rainbow Fish “on my friend Caron’s wall hanging. I loved it ,this is my interpretation of a Rainbow. I had in Mind to dedicate “ The Mask” “ The Water Babe” To these company’s, In view of the fact this work is still in the final design stage and did not eventuate. I decided that the ”Rainbow”, was in fact a better choice. A light at the end of the tunnel, was a great depiction for these three Company’s. Their valued support for the children, I help as a volunteer for A.A.C.A has been enormous over the period of time I have been associated with them. A Little Ray of(“ Sunshine ) has come into the lives of these children. Together we started A COMFORT TOY PROGRAM. Anyone wishing to donate a toy for these kids, can contact me, or mail direct to this address: The children are able to sellect the Toy of their Choice. Home made toys are a great delight to them. PARCELS Should be addressed to David Cook. A.A.C.A. P.O. Box 525 RINGWOOD. VIC. 3134. These Companies Sponsored a Fundraising weekend that raised $2800.00. The comfort Toy Program was born at that Event.
This series is an interpretation of water, this is a “ French “ water Lilly. I was taken with Claude Monet version of Water lily's, when I guarded them at The National Gallery of Melbourne. One could never compare to a great Master. This is purely an interpretation of the Title of this collection and my love of The Great Masters.
This Shellfish, was a reminder of learning to operate a computer course. In time it did al come together, I mght say it was not without some hair pulling, with both these tasks. I called my computer Joe .on several occasions I was asked by staff how I was Going, I said Joe was acting up again. Eventually they asked who Joe was . I explained learning the computer was like being married, I would wake up in the morning and think what will he do today.
“ Sunshine” is a song my dad used to sing to m, as a child. He called me sunshine for my smile. .My Grandson was nicknamed Smiley. For his smile) What a difference a smile makes. Smile and the whole world smiles with you , cry and you cry alone . Barbara’s song was. “ ONE DAY AT A TIME” The Daffodil represents Cancer Fundraising Day.
This timepiece is significant, in as much as time heals all wounds, It also represents "of water” “of air,” to value each breath we take. It is the process of getting on with things that is important. This clock suits Sue Borland so well she has always taken the time to treat the soul. When this happens the cause takes care of itself.
Fate would have it that this day would change my life forever. The irony was the date and all it represented to me. Trust me, this is a special (“ Peace”.) Coincidence had me working on it on the 11 th /11/2003 “ Teach Your Children Well” It might just save their life one day. I believe my Fathers advice to me, as a child.( If it’s below the Belt, GO in Hard. Never walk away from the fight a bully starts) Fight the good fight, stand your ground, walk away afterward knowing you were true to yourself. That advice saved my Life. If only he Knew it.
This(“ Peace”) is one to be valued for the mere fact it was a giant learning curve, in more way’s than one. If ever you are visiting the Mornington Peninsula, Birdrock Beach is at Mornington. ” “ One day in September” at the MCG is renown for it’s battles. That’s a walk in the park compared to the battle I fought on this day in November. This quote has been my mentor. The belief that good will overcome evil, it may take some time but it will happen.
This interpretation" of water’ clicked for me For me it depicts my love of Fredrick Mc Cubbin's. Painting “ the Pioneers”. I was a Security Officer Grade 1 with the Government. had a stint at the National Gallery. The comparisons I made with these two works are, that the journey is the experience, and the good things we take with us. The Road of Life, in fact represent us for “ Eternity” . The Name the seven Sea’s was the brain child of Liz Munro of TAFE Bairnsdale VIC. The irony for Dr Gwynne and my self was that , I was born in Shepparton, he practiced in Shepparton and experienced my trauma via a different victim of crime. The seven sea’s depicts how fate intervenes, in as much , that the mile ‘s and tides did not stop it all connecting on the shore of. the 90 mile beach my sister’s favourite place. The 90 Mile Beach.
This one is for several people. Dedicated to Dr Gwynne. The lake represents the Shepparton Lake. Two Waves is for a young couple last seen at the Lake , they lost their lives, because of a Recalcitrant, Recidivist. I remember on 11 th /11 th each year. “ Lest we Forget”. The Victims of Crime. A reminder for the Rural Justice Movement and Howard Emanuel (Convenor) I wonder how he would feel if it was his wife Madalen, or his three children Ruby, Josie And Sebastian. Of whom he openly used in a speech recently, to espouse the cause, that we should not jail people with a mental Illness. The Two Waves: ( I am of the opion in this case that justice was served.( Never to be released,) It will never compensate for their the loss. This Offender was responsible for a great deal of Pain, to my family, and many others. . Smoky was in a car accident he was thrown from the car when it hit the bank, after it came off a bridge. The “If Only Analogy” applies here: He fell face down and drowned. This depicts him face toward the sky. The last photo the family has of him was taken at the Shepparton Lake. Fate again, he was one of this States best swimmers. (“of time” 1960 ) ( “of air” leaving the bridge) ( “of water” ) The water Babe was not completed for this Exhibition. This is a mask consisting of my baby photo in the centre of a water lily .Depicting the sink or swim theory, I have applied it to the journey of life, once again. Michele Grumley has introduced me to the Art of Digital Imagery, that she used to prepare for” The Water Babe “The mask will be a part my next Exhibition work. Michele has also worked on some photos, I have to produce an Image, I am planing to Mosaic. Part of that image is of my brother Smoky taken at the Shepparton Lake. Michelle is directly responsible for my application in the 2004 Arts Multimedia course. I thought she was mad at the time, early in 2003, when she saw some of my mosaics work. , and said it was the way I should go. When CRS Australia arranged my course and exhibition in Mosaics. I followed up the Art’s course. As Part of my CRS Australia program with Sally Mc Dermott. I applied and submitted” Bird rock Beach “ Fleur-de-lis” and “Shellfish” as sample’s of my work. I am delighted to say I start the Course in February.2004. My gratitude to Michelle is immense. Thank You. For Smoky’s Photo. I cant wait to see where this course leads me. I will always Mosaic it has been my “Yellow Brick Road”. Destination Unknown. The theory behind the photos’ we worked on together. “The Unknown Soldier”.
This is the project I would like to have support to create an Art Award. Thank you for the Photo Michelle Grumley.
This is the design I have planned for my next Exhibition.
Please don’t hesitate to speak to me should you want to go over any part of this Presentation
