2. Maria Prymachenko
(Pryymachenko)
(1908–1997) is a
Ukrainian folk artist in
the genre of "naive art";
laureate of the National
Prize of Ukraine named
after T. G. Shevchenko.
She was born and buried
in the village of Swamp
of Vyshgorod District,
Kyiv Oblast.
3. She created more than
800 paintings, 650 works
are kept in the National
Museum of Ukrainian
Folk Decorative Art
(Kyiv). According to the
decision of UNESCO,
2009 was recognized as
the year of Maria
Prymachenko.
4.
5. All elements form a
unique ensemble with
its own rhythm and
forms. In all of
Pryimachenko works,
there is this constant,
calm, endless
ornamental
movement.
6. The Ivankiv Historical and Local
History Museum was opened on
February 21, 1981. It is located in
a former manor estate rebuilt in
Soviet times. The pride of the
museum was the collection of
works of art of Ukrainian folk
artist Maria Prymachenko in the
genre of "naive art". In 2016–
2018, the museum premises were
thoroughly renovated.
7. During the offensive of Russian
troops in the village of Ivankiv
in the Kyiv region on Sunday,
February 27, the building of the
historical and local history
museum burned down. The
collection of this museum
included the works of the
famous Ukrainian folk artist
Maria Prymachenko.
8. Part of Prymachenko paintings
from the museum's collection
was at a temporary exhibition in
Kyiv, some of them were saved
from the burning building by
local residents, thanks to which
these works escaped
destruction. The fate of the rest
of the exhibits is unknown. As a
result of shelling, the museum
building completely burned
down.
9.
10. In total, 410 exhibits were
stored in the museum. All
rescued canvases were
temporarily transferred to
the local House of Culture,
where they were described
and hidden in a safe place.
11.
12. The building of the Ivankov
museum has already been included
in the list of objects for priority
reconstruction - at least 35 million
hryvnias are needed for restoration.
Currently, the status of the museum
is "completely destroyed". While
the required amount is being
collected among benefactors.
13. Russia continues to destroy and kill the population
and cultural heritage of Ukraine! Ukraine has proven
many times that it belongs to the democratic world.
Protection of democracy for Ukrainians is above all
else. Today, Ukraine needs the help of other
democratic states to overcome the dictator of a huge
country - a threat to the whole world. Putin is
committing genocide against the Ukrainian people —
the occupiers are killing the civilian population,
throwing bombs not only at military units, but also
shelling kindergartens, hospitals, maternity homes,
and destroying residential buildings with rockets. We
must stop this war! The world hear us!!!
