Researchers have genetically modified a bacteria, Pantoes agglomerans, that lives naturally in the gut of mosquitoes. The modified bacteria produces proteins that destroy Plasmodium oocysts, which are early forms of the malaria parasite, reducing malaria infection rates in mosquitoes by 98%. Another approach uses GM mosquitoes with an added gene that kills them as larvae if not given tetracycline, decreasing wild mosquito populations over time. However, long term safety testing of GM mosquitoes interacting with the environment and humans has not been conducted.

Driving in the UK follows several basic rules: drive on the left side of the road; yield to traffic from the right at roundabouts unless otherwise marked; obey all traffic signals, signs, and give right of way to emergency vehicles; use of mobile phones while driving is illegal; seatbelts must be worn by all drivers and front seat passengers; and do not park in bus lanes or areas marked with yellow or red lines during restricted times. Additional motorway rules include passing on the right, not blocking the middle lane if the inside is clear, and a two hour time limit at most service stations.
Drivers in France should follow these rules:
1) Drive on the right side of the road and pass vehicles on the left. Give way to vehicles going uphill on steep slopes and to emergency vehicles.
2) Carry proper documentation like a valid license, insurance, and ID, as well as safety equipment like jackets, triangles, and breathalyzers.

2) Vehicles must yield to those coming from the right, trams, and pedestrians at crosswalks. Audible warnings should only be used for safety and headlights must be flashed between nightfall and dawn.
3) Seatbelts are compulsory for all passengers, and traffic uses standard green-yellow-red lights with additional arrow signals at some intersections.

Getting Started
You’ve had the personal handover from a member of our team and we know it’s a lot to take in, all at once. So we’ve put together a user guide to
help you get started and find your way around your motorhome.
Starter Guide:
Keys: You have 2 keys, one for the cab doors, ignition and diesel cap.
The second is for the habitation door and all external lockers.
Fuel: Open the fuel tank with the main cab key.
Please note that the motorhome takes Diesel fuel only.
The fuel filler point is located on the passenger side of the cab.
Fire Safety: All motorhomes are fitted with a Fire Extinguisher and a Smoke and
Carbon Monoxide detector both have been pointed out to you during your personal handover.
Driving: Although the motorhome isn’t much wider than an ordinary car, it is longer.
We would recommend taking corners slow and wide and advise precaution until you are used to driving the vehicle.
Look out for low bridges, overhanging trees and use caution on narrow roads.
4. 4
Fridge:Once you’ve started the engine we recommend that you turn on the fridge and set it to battery mode,
to start it cooling. Once on site you can switch the power to the mains 230v hook up. (See notes on Fridge Instructions).
Avoiding running the leisure battery down.
Levelling:Upon arrival at your destination it is essential to get the motorhome as level as possible. It can affect the
efficient working of the fridge, drainage of the shower trays and sinks and most importantly your comfortable night’s sleep.
Levelling ramps are provided. They can be used to lift one end or alternatively one side. Take care when using
the ramps and drive slowly. If you overshoot and drive off the end, they could become wedged under the motorhome.
Once levelled, apply the handbrake and leave in 1st gear.
Tip: Run some water in the sink, if it flows away down the plug hole its level. If water remains in sink, it’s not level.
5. 5
Power: To use the on board facilities you will need to connect the motorhome to the onsite 230v mains electric supply.
1. Take the orange hook up cable from the rear locker, unreel the cable (Important to fully unreel all the cable as it can become hot) and
plug it into the mains connection on the left hand side of the motorhome.
2. Next, connect the other end of the cable to the socket at your pitch to use the sites power supply.
NOTE: connecting the motor home first avoids handling a live connector.
The blue flap on the connector hooks onto the mating plug. So to
release the socket, pull the flap towards you pressing the release
lever at the same time. There may also be a switch on the campsite
socket outlet that must be turned on. The electrical control panel
for the Motorhome is over the entrance door.
Be aware that on its highest setting, the room heater can draw 8 amps of current from the campsite. If used at the same time as an electric kettle
and 4 amp water heater, the combined load may exceed the limit of the campsite supply (often 16 amps) and cause it to switch off and need
resetting.
There are main electrical switches and fuses located inside the motorhome, you have been shown on the handover and the main RCD switch
should you need to re-set the electrics after a trip.
DON’T DRIVE AWAY WITH THE CABLE CONNECTED
1 2
6. 6
Gas: To use the heating and hot water systems you will need to turn on the gas supply.
Simple open the gas locker on the side of the motorhome and turn the brass tap on the top of the
gas cylinder anti clockwise. (You may hear a hiss as the gas flows through) and clockwise to close.
Remember to turn the gas supply off when you aren’t using it. Ensure it is off also whilst travelling,
sleeping or away from the motorhome.
To change gas cylinders over, close the tap and unscrew the black plastic valve and undo the nylon
webbing strap restraining the cylinder.
When fitting a new cylinder make sure it sits flat on the floor and then tighten the straps.
If the gas runs out exchange at a petrol station or camping supply shop, keep the receipt and Freedhome will reimburse
you upon return of the Motorhome.
If You Smell Gas:
• Turn off the tap on gas cylinder
• Extinguish all naked flames
• Do not switch on any electrical devices (including battery powered ones)
• Open all doors and windows
• Stay outside of the motorhome until gas has dispersed We operate a strict
no smoking policy

Water Tanks:The motorhome has two separate on-board water tanks, one for fresh water and the second is
a waste water tank (grey water).
Fresh Water Tank:(holds approx. 100 litres of fresh water)
To refill open cover on the passenger side of the motorhome and place the hose pipe provided into
the tank making sure that the hose is as far down as possible.
Make sure the pressure of the water supply is not on too strong as the water will be flowing too
fast & the tank will not be filled up fully.
Check levels of tank by using the control panel before you remove the hose pipe (see ‘control
panel’ section, it will indicate 0%, 33%, 66% or 99% full).
Please ensure all hose & adaptors supplied are returned to motorhome on completion of filling the
water tank as there is a charge for missing items.
We do not recommend that the fresh water tank is used for drinking water, always boil water
before consuming.
10. 10
Grey Water Tank: Grey water is waste water from the shower, kitchen and bathroom sinks it is collected
in a tank underneath the motorhome.
To empty the tank release lever which is located underneath the motorhome (below the waste water symbol), as pointed out during your
Handover. Pull leaver towards you to empty and push back to close once complete. Ensuring leaver is returned fully, especially before travelling as
they may catch/come off whilst travelling over road humps.
Note: The grey waste water should be emptied over a designated waste point on site before you leave (usually a grid to drive over, ask on site for
location).
11. 11
Boiler Safety Switch: In order for the boiler to work the following steps have to be undertaken.
The window above the boiler flue has to be
shut, the sensory will detect this and
cut out the boiler if the window is open.
On the Marco polo not the LP versions the white flue cover has to be removed.
To remove the cover place one hand on top of
the cover and firmly press down. With the other
hand pull the cover from the bottom firmly.

micro switch has to be in the closed position, i.e. window
shut, for it to operate.
15. 15
Heating & Hot Water: The controls dial is just below the main Control Panel.
To operate simply turn the dial to the required setting.
The heating is automatically switched on when the dial is turned from the off position.
A green LED light will illuminate in the centre of the dial to indicate it is on.
The hot water is controlled by a switch
under the seat in the dinette area.
It has 3 simple settings.
1. Off
2. 50 degrees
3. 70 degrees
Remember to turn off when leaving the
motorhome or while sleeping.
16. 16
Gas Oven & Grill: Turn the gas on and check the gas isolation tap is open.
(Located in cupboard under the oven) –we never turn these off.
Turn the required dial anti-clockwise and hold for a few seconds, light with ignitor in draw. After
lighting keep the dial depressed for 10-15 seconds.
Flame can then be altered as required.
Never close the glass lid after cooking as the glass will shatter, check the hob has cooled first

main control panel.
Before use open the vent (blade) to the cassette by sliding the grey lever, after use, flush (with
blue button) and close the blade by returning the lever to its origin position.
The seat of the toilet bowl swivels to give a little more elbow room.
A red warning light will show when the toilet tank is nearly full, if illuminated EMPTY the
toilet cassette IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT USE!
We recommend the toilet cassette is emptied daily.
18. 18
Emptying: Sorry it’s got to be done.
Ensure the “blade” is in the closed position, separating the loo to the toilet cassette. (This is inside of
bathroom, grey leaver underneath the toilet bowl).
Unlock toilet cassette door, push in both button at the same time to open.
Lift up the yellow lever and pull cassette out from the locker, carefully!!
If it won’t slide out easily check the blade is closed, it won’t release with the blade open.
Take cassette to designated waste disposal area or conventional toilet.
Rotate grey arm upwards and unscrew yellow cap.
Pour contents down designated waste disposal area or conventional toilet.
When emptying, press down the yellow button, this lets air into the tank so it pours
freely without glugging. Don’t press the button until the tank is in the tipping position,
so the button is above the level of the waste inside.
Rinse with water until it runs clear. Replace yellow cap and swivel neck back to original
position. Add one loo chemical sachet (provided) into cassette and 1 litre of water.
Wash your hands, thoroughly.
We recommend the toilet cassette is emptied daily.
19. 19
Dinette Area and Bed Conversion: To convert the dinette area into a bed, remove all the cushions and remove the
table off the upper rail (this will have been shown to you on your Handover). Hook the table on to the lower rail and fold in the leg to the lower
position using the button on the side of the leg. Fix the additional table piece in place from the locker. Pull out the side panels from the edges of
the seats to extend the length of the bed, allow the leg to fall down for additional support.

into position. When bed is in required position, turn the key counter clockwise in the off position.
Secure Netting for a
peaceful night’s sleep.
22. 22
Bed Conversion: The alternative to the descending electronic bed is a double above the cab area:
Simple unclip the strap and gently pull the bed
down (it’s on a hydraulic arm). It is in the raised
position to allow easy access to the cab area.
Attach the ladder, stored under the mattress.
Clip on the safety net, to the ceiling hooks, close the
curtains and roof blinds.
23. 23
Bed Conversion: To convert the rear seating area, remove the middle cushion and pull the extending base out.
Remove the two side back cushion and place over the slats.

The camera view should display when the motorhome is running and reverse is selected.
If the camera doesn’t automatically come on, press the On/Off button, if no signal press V1/V2 button to change channel.
Freedhome always recommends that you have someone helping to direct you when reversing, or pulling away as the camera may not always
pick up small posts etc. There are no overhead cameras so it will not pick up any overhead obstructions.
25. 25
Bike Rack:(included as standard)
To open the bike rack loosen central arm (smallest one on the left) by undoing the top central red screw and unclip the plastic strap around the
middle tray.
Pull the tray down so they are in a horizontal position. Place the bikes on the tray and secure the wheels by clipping the plastic straps around the
wheels.
Now secure the central arm to the bike frame using the plastic strap. If more than 1 bike, secure the bike furthest from the motorhome, this will
hold all of them in one place. When the bike rack is not in use fold the tray back to the vertical position and secure with the central arm and
plastic strap.
As the bike rack extends past the length of the motorhome always have some standing behind you when reversing.
Total Maximum Weight 60KG

Lights: To switch on: Turn the ‘on/off’ button on at the control panel
and press the light bulb button. This works like a master light switch
and should be turned off as you leave the motorhome.
All interior lights have their own power on/off switch. Familiarise yourself
with the lights around the motorhome.
Plug Sockets: The plug sockets will only work if you are connected to a
230V electrical hook-up source or a Freedhome generator.
These are located around the motorhome, above the hob, under the overhead
cupboard in the bathroom and on side of the dinette seat.
Note: The plug socket will not work when you are travelling, or unless you have
the orange power cable connected.
27. 27
RCD Unit:(residual current device)
This is located in a cupboard underneath the kitchen sink.
If you experience no 230v power please check to make sure the switch is on.
i.e. switch is in the ‘up’ position.
If this is tripped or knocked accidently then the 230V supply will not work.
Fuses: Should a fuse blow, they are located
under the seating in the Dinette area.
Towing eye: Your towing eye is located in the emergency kit box. The connection
