Boston College Libraries created MiraSpace to replace their aging Ex Libris Digitool system. MiraSpace is a digital collections portal that integrates Alma, Primo, ArchivesSpace, and Mirador. It provides a more usable and accessible platform for the library's digital collections. The project began as an idea on a whiteboard and required overcoming challenges like Primo persistent linking and caching. Future plans include usability testing, adding more collections, and integrating Alma's OAI export functionality. The technical team that created MiraSpace is led by Betsy Post and includes Luke Gaudreau, Adam Jazairi, Christine Mayo, and Paige Walker.

this challenge by working with the Finance Department to be
more ‘savvy’ about their spend throughout the year, and by using
analytics – particularly with the E-textbooks initiative – to inform
their decisions, and what conversations they have with suppliers
and academics. Acquisition budgets for the sciences at the
University of Cambridge are also under pressure, with the added
complication of being a legal deposit library thrown into the mix.
Yvonne will talk about how increasing e-book provision is being
used to fill the gaps, and many of the frustrations this strategy
involves. She will also discuss the problems that ‘bundled’
publisher offerings create for the science librarian.

According to the DCMM (Digital Preservation Capability Maturity Model ©) newsletter in January 2016, “There are positive signs that digital preservation is finally entering the mainstream of professional practice and information technology infrastructure.”
The accelerating impact of change on long-term preservation might contradict the optimisms that we are coming closer to bridging the digital preservation capability gap between the problem owners and the solution providers. A lot of cutting-edge technology and research has been done out there over the past decade to support preservation, but who is ready to take on the risk of being an early adopter of cutting-edge solutions? When it seems many organisations are still struggling to understand what they need to be doing and what fits their context and purposes.
So what does it take to close that chasm? What type of collaborations are needed? Are we ready to build that bridge?

This talk reconsiders the conventional approach towards repository deposit, by reconceptualising deposit workflow and asking how and whether we can use this to substantially increase deposit volumes. We will recap the user tools from DepositMO project, which were underpinned by the then-new SWORDv2. In contrast, deposit tools developed in DepositMOre are EPrints apps aimed at repository managers rather than users. We will explore the use and current status of these apps, and the repository implementations. Is more content the primary target for repositories? We will review the challenges facing repositories as the context for understanding the outcomes of this work and future directions. This talk was presented to the RSP event Increasing the full-text deposits in your institutional repository, in London, 12 June 2013.

How students *really* do research - Findings from the Research Confession Booth
This document summarizes findings from a study called the Research Confession Booth. The study involved undergraduate and graduate students performing research tasks at a booth while talking through their process and being recorded. Key findings included:
- Students primarily used Google, Google Scholar, and library databases like PubMed for research.
- Navigation of library resources was challenging for many students.
- Students valued features that provided relevant results, full-text access, and citation management support.
- Some found library resources confusing and difficult to use compared to familiar Google.
- Preference for open web was due to quick results, familiar interfaces, and ability to match effort to information needs.
Levin library usability study

environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
