Making Inferences

A Joe Fasen Enhanced Power Point Presentation
What is an
inference
anyway?
While we read, we
are picturing the
story in our head
We find clues in the story we
figure out what is going on.

That’s what it means
to infer!
For example:
• Does Henry love Mudge?
How do you know that?
• Is Mudge a dog you can depend
on?
How do you know that?
*Would Mudge stay with Henry if he
got lost?
How do you know that?
• What is the season in the story?

• Why do you think they need two
sticks?

• What are the children doing?

–Great inferring!
