The Magdalena River Multimodal Port project aims to lower transportation costs for goods moving to the Atlantic coast from inland Colombia. The port will include a free tax zone for processing raw materials, as well as oil, coal, and multimodal ports. It will allow oil companies to transport crude oil and coal mines to transport coal at much lower costs compared to other methods. The port is strategically located near four major cities with access to highways, rail, and the Magdalena River for transportation. It is projected to generate over $4.6 billion in sales over 10 years and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
