Magazine conventions
CONTENTS
• My contents page also uses many forms and conventions of real media products.
Like the front cover a clear title is used to state the use of the page. I have
developed this form my putting this title vertical and to the left of my page instead
or horizontal and to the top. This makes the magazine stand out from others and
twists the norm of magazines.
To list page numbers I have used columns which is a popular strategy used in
magazines. The page number, which sits next to the small amount of text, is in red
whereas the text is black. This makes the page number easy to read at a quick glance
and allows the reader to find their desired page quickly and efficiently. The text also
has important parts made bold to make the reading process of vital information much
quicker. The reader can just look at the bold text and gain an understanding of what is
on that page number.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
• My double page spread has used the same colour scheme as the front cover and
contents page, a convention that is popular throughout real media
products, mainly magazines. Part of the text used in the double page spread are
made read to correspond with the colour scheme, these red parts are also
important or mark the start of something. For example, I have a question and
answers part to my double page spread, each of the questions are started with a
capital Q in red to mark the start of a new question. This makes the text easier to
follow.
