In this clip it shows the 3 witches/bin men talking about their sandwiches and what is in them. It
then skips to show everyone preparing for the night ahead at the restaurant.

Lady Macbeth is shown to be quite important as there is a low angle for when she is inspecting the
cutlery on the table, the low angle shows that she has a high status and respected by her colleagues,
especially compared to the waiter who originally set the table wrong, wearing his creased, dirty
uniform. The fact that it is the woman’s job to check the table is also a key stereotype as most of
society expects the men to do the hard work whilst the woman looks after the house and family, in
this case she is to look after the restaurant. She is also shown as a perfectionist when she measures
the distance between the knife and fork, this shows that she could be dangerous if she ever
becomes your enemy as she makes sure everything is done immaculately and precisely. The fact that
she goes out with the head chef is also quite stereotypical as it infers that she maybe wouldn’t have
been able to get her important job on her own skills, it infers that she needed a man to put a good
word in for her to get the important job. She is also shown as being professional and high class with
hercostume being conservative trouser bottoms and shirt top, this outfit therefore is not offensive in
any way so the costume shows her high class and her personality as being a perfectionist. There is
also an over the shoulder, close up of her in the mirror putting her make up on with a serious,
professional facial expression. This emphasises the fact that because she is female, she has to always
look presentable which is again very that women should always look nice as if it’s part of her job. She
also has a very hard face which is always very serious; this only changes when she is around Macbeth
as they are at ease with each other. Apart from when he is around, she is very professional which
shows him as her Achilles heal, maybe showing that later on she will do anything for him? Lady
Macbeth is also very well spoken with as posh accent; this shows her status as being high up, an
extreme difference to the three bin men at the beginning of the scene in their dirty clothes, talking
like they have never been to a school in their lives. The incidental music when she is inspecting the
restaurant is also quite jittery and mischievous, this represents her as maybe being quite sly and
secretive, as if she is plotting against someone/something OR that she is capable of plotting against
someone/something. The set design around her is also immaculate, like the way she works.

The three bin men/witches are represented as being quite common and not having a very high
status at all. Their dialogue emphasises their common language and rough accent which is hard to
decipher. This shows them as being common because they obviously are too poor to go out and get
a good education where they learnt to speak properly. This shows them as being mysterious and
dangerous as you can’t understand them so you don’t know what they could be plotting against
them, also their low class could make them quite jealous and bitter towards the upper class. Their
clothes are also very dirty and old which again shows their low status, maybe that they can’t afford
new clothes or just that they have tougher job that chefs and restaurant managers, which again
could make them bitter towards the upper class in the rest of the programme. The location shows
the tone of the clip as very bleak with dark, wash out colour that give a dreary atmosphere, this
probably represents the three men, being not what they seem and not to be trusted. Also the fact
that they have a big debate and confusion over what is in the sandwiches , especially the close up of
the mans confused facial expression when he decides it in “anchovies” all show that they are quite
simple minded, this tricks the audience into thinking they are harmless but maybe they are not as
dumb as they act? The composition of the clip shows them all crammed in the lorry, making the
frame seem full and cramped. This shows the men as having not much say in their choice of job or
even having any say in their choice of comfort for the unfortunate job they have been given, this
again makes the audience underestimate them. The fact that the menslocation mean they are also
surrounded by rubbish could be a big representation of them there selves. It’s hard to think that
they aren’t in this unfortunate situation for a reason, maybe their path in life has lead them to this
grim job what sums them up, there is also a dark cloud above there lorry showing that they only
bring darkness and misery to people, also that someone is looking down on them, this all shows
them as having a low status, but also a personality that is not to be trusted. They also eat with their
mouths wide open, which sums up there low class with their lack of manners and makes the
audience not want to sympathise or like them. Finally, the non-diegetic music on the radio is quite
dancey and upbeat, which is actually quite sinister and kind of sarcastic as the three men are the
complete opposite as they take all the joy out of everyone’s lives.
