IMPACT OF PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT ON SUCCESSION PLANNING
Motivation: HR in an organization faces various challenges in business environment, such as Building Capabilities, Improving Productivity, Building Performance Culture, Talent Management, Succession Planning for Key Leadership and Critical Roles, Developing Accountability and Ownership, Human Capital Management and transforming HR function into developmental Role from the legacy driven HR, etc. Succession Planning is the process of identifying and developing individuals, who have potential to hold the key leadership position in an Organization, whereas Performance Management includes assessing and improving upon the performance of an employee to meet the organizational goals. There are several Management Practices, which are adopted widely in Industry to make a successful Succession Planning. Workforce and Talent Management is one of them. The health of an organization majorly depends on the proper placement of people, which is a combined outcome of Talent Identification, Talent Development and Talent Retention. Performance Management plays a vital role in Talent Identification. It also has an impact on Talent Development and Talent Retention. The key idea of succession planning suggests that the right person to be placed at the right position at the right time. Succession planning is becoming a challenge these days in the corporate world. Organizations are often not found prepared with their successors to occupy the key positions as and when required. The positions are either kept vacant for a substantial period or more than one role is assigned to a single person. Identifying the right talent for the key positions from outside the organization and recruiting them is a much more difficult task at the eleventh hour. This has a significant impact on organizational health and in turn to organizational sustainability. Organizations must last longer than people. Role of organization continues even when the people move out. Employees must superannuate after attaining a certain age. Also, organizations must have a contingency plan for sudden vacancy arises out of attrition, health hazards and death of employee. Succession planning is the strategy to ensure that a suitable person is made available during exigencies. Employees are developed for taking on higher responsibilities and for the new roles that may emerge in future. The placement of Key Leadership positions can be executed either by inviting the talent from outside or developing the talent in-house. The latter is always in demand keeping in view the core values of the organization and the impact on loyalty and organizational culture in a long run. It is preferable to develop the in-house talent pool to reduce dependency on recruitment of experienced people from outside for the critical roles. It brings the talent acquisition cost low and contributes as a motivating factor for the team as well. Brief Overview of the Case Scenario
The Human Resource Director t the Wynn Regional Medical Center (WRMC) resigned recently. The resource department notified the hospital. Surprisingly, it was not long before the previous Human resource director also left. The vacancies affected the HR department greatly as some pending policies and strategies were still to be implementing. The hospital will most likely experience a crisis as some positions are still vacant for months as the leadership skills and knowledge required are lacking. Using a descriptive strategy to help in the recruitment, training, and succession plan would help solve the human resources problem and staff shortage.
Recruitment
Hiring a new HR director would be the first step to undertake. A qualified HR director would resolve the issue that is affecting the human resource department. The recruitment phase involves three phases. First, the preparation consists of setting up the required skills before posting it as a vacant position. Next is a shortlist of applicants to look at during the selection process, and lastly, choosing the right candidate. For starters, the HR directors should have a certified bachelor's degree in human resource management. They can encourage health researchers, managers, policymakers, and other institutions' experience to complement the qualification.
Qualifications
· As for the skills, they should have good communication skills, organization skills, budgeting, decision-making, development, and training skills. They should be able to sit for a prolonged time at the desk and work on the computer Study the relationship between HRM practices, policies, and systems and staff performance. The candidates should clearly state these requirements in their cover letter Must be able to adapt to the organization's needs. Brief Overview of the Case Scenario
The Human Resource Director t the Wynn Regional Medical Center (WRMC) resigned recently. The resource department notified the hospital. Surprisingly, it was not long before the previous Human resource director also left. The vacancies affected the HR department greatly as some pending policies and strategies were still to be implementing. The hospital will most likely experience a crisis as some positions are still vacant for months as the leadership skills and knowledge required are lacking. Using a descriptive strategy to help in the recruitment, training, and succession plan would help solve the human resources problem and staff shortage.
Recruitment
Hiring a new HR director would be the first step to undertake. A qualified HR director would resolve the issue that is affecting the human resource department. The recruitment phase involves three phases. First, the preparation consists of setting up the required skills before posting it as a vacant position. Next is a shortlist of applicants to look at during the selection process, and lastly, choosing the right candidate. For starters, the HR directors should have a certified bachelor's degree in human resource management. They can encourage health researchers, managers, policymakers, and other institutions' experience to complement the qualification.
Qualifications
· As for the skills, they should have good communication skills, organization skills, budgeting, decision-making, development, and training skills. They should be able to sit for a prolonged time at the desk and work on the computer Study the relationship between HRM practices, policies, and systems and staff performance. The candidates should clearly state these requirements in their cover letter Must be able to adapt to the organization's needs. To advertise the vacancy, we could consider promotion from within the organization[LC1], use social networks like LinkedIn to connect to HR professionals or ask referrals from employees for people they think could qualify for the positions (Hu, 2014).

Managerial decision-making and financial acumen are quintessential for a business to be profitable. The course content exposes the students to the criticality of these factors in the financial decisions taken by the management of a company (Wasniewski N., n.d.)
This course has helped me enormously in the development of my financial acumen and has enabled me to understand basic financial metrics and contribute to the important managerial decisions. Some of the important concepts that I have imbibed are IRR, NPV, TVM, etc. that make it easier to arrive at solutions for practical business problems. One of the important aspects of the course is that it helps the learner to acquire a basic understanding of the roles and the basic objectives of financial management. The course has given me the exposure to how complex decisions can be when selecting projects for different investment opportunities. It is imperative that one has a good grasp of the capital budgeting techniques in such situations. Another crucial aspect of financial analysis is to gain a strong understanding of the various techniques of effective working capital like inventory management, payable, accounts receivable and the problems given in the course are sufficient to acquire these skills.
The students are given ample opportunities to groom their managerial decision-making skills through the problems given to them to solve. These problems have enabled me to dive into the challenges of the financial management world and have helped shape up my ability to make effective managerial decisions. I will apply the skills that I have acquired during the managerial finance course at work and contribute better to the crucial investment decisions made by the management. I will also caution the management in not being hasty in making these decisions as any wrong decision can greatly impact the ability of the company to achieve the goals set by it.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
