3. Pepsi
Pepsi was created in 1893 by Caleb Bradham
in his Drug Store in New Bern, North Carolina.
The original name of this new drink was called
"Brad's Drink" after Caleb Bradham himself. It
was made with mix of sugar, water, caramel,
lemon oil, nutmeg, and cola nuts.
Pepsi have a great and consistent way of
competing with coke to be the top drink
brand, they do this by sponsoring the top
branding in the world, this can involve
football, with UEFA, they have
sponsored basketball too, getting a deal with
4. COCA COLA
Originally marketed as a temperance drink and
intended as a patent medicine, it was invented in
the late 19th century by John Stith Pemberton
and was bought out by businessman Asa Griggs
Candler, whose marketing tactics led Coca-Cola to
its dominance of the world soft-drink market
throughout the 20th century.
To this day coke is still one of the main, top soft
drinks in the world, despite being on top for so
many years and they will still be top for years to
come through excellent advertising and
promotion always staying in the loop and
releasing new flavors.
6. Pepsi have crossed into all different types of media, one big one being a
partnership with UEFA champions Legue. They have main moments
during the match getting plenty of exposure. They also have the best
players in the world drinking it, wearing branded clothes and doing
special advertisements showcasing skills and tricks often involving
playing with a Pepsi bottle/can and taking a drink at the end.
7. Cross media advertising for coke
Coke and Christmas didn't begin
until 1931, several decades after the
brand was launched. Interestingly,
many people believe that
the Coke brand is responsible for
creating Santa Claus — the iconic
figure of the holiday
season. Because of coke santas
colours got changed from green to
red

9. Pepsi have secured a big face in Leo Messi. He has
been the face of Pepsi since 2014, when they
signed him to promote the world cup. Since then,
he has been the main star of every big
commercial they have made, this pushes the
impression to the audience that it’s a good drink
as one of the best athletes of all time is drinking it.
10. In 2014, taylor swift became the face of diet coke, this
was not only huge for her but also for the people
who support her and her music. She showed a new
style of coke, somewhat safe to drink to people who
are losing weight.
This made coke accsessible to all people, to people
who are cutting back on sugar, losing weight or just
looking for a better option to the overly sugary soft
drink, this is all backed by the very famous and
popular taylor swift, making the average person think
if shes drinking it, then it is ok for us to drink aswell.
12. When pepsi creates an advert, it is normally in every
frame along with the celebrity endorcing it, this can
be with most If not all the football adverts pepsi has
done, that involves them doing unrealistic trick shots
and skills using a can of pepsi or multiple cans of
pepsi.
13. Coke uses a different way of advertising,
often telling a short story about the
feeling you get off drinking coke a cola,
this can be shown like in the most recent
2021 advertisement, we see people take a
drink of coke and start dancing and get a
new sense of energy.
15. Pepsi have never had a consistant tag line throughout
the years compared to many other big companies,
for example KFC's 'finger lickin good' or mcdonalds
'im lovin it', but in recent times, pepsi have been seen
to use 'maximum taste, not sugar' for the now
popular pepsi max. For normal pepsi, the defult
slogan is 'that’s what I like' but this is never used in
adverts.
16. Coke again tend to prefer not to use slogans in main
advertising campagins, they have had several them
throughout the years though, with them using 'have a coke
and a smile, coke adds life' to now the simpler and more
effective 'taste the feeling'
18. The standard themes for pepsis most recent
adverts have been heavily sports related, as the
main people they sponser are invloved in the
sporting world, this again can give a more
athletes feel to the drink and theme around
physical activity, trick shots and a race to see
who can get to the drink first and keep it the
longest.
19. Coke go for a different type of advertising
when it comes to getting a theme across,
it often involves average people drinking
coke and something significant and good
happens, this can be a sudden burst of
energy or the drink putting you and the
people around you in a better mood
creating a happy vibe.
20. COLOUR & TONE & FEEL OF
ADVERT/ HOUSE STYLES
COLORS AND TYPOGRAPHY
21. This Pepsi advertisement makes good use of color as a
medium of showing the tone or mood of the message the advertisement
is trying to convey. Blue or teal is the most dominant color in this
advertisement. The can of Pepsi is blue and so is the table and the
rest of the background, giving the advertisement a very cool and relaxing
visual feel. Pepsi go along with the cool and relaxed visuals by using a
basic but neat font being displayed in lig letters at the bottom of the logo.
The letters are sanserif.
22. Coca-Cola is famous for its white scripted text on a distinct bright red
background. The color red in marketing portrays power, excitement,
energy and passion. It also stimulates the appetite, which makes it an
excellent choice when branding food or drink. Cokes red and white logo
along with the name alone can make people chose coke over pepsi,
despite pepsi often beating coke in a blind tase test. The big logo Is like
Pepsis but coca-cola goes for more curved serif lettering to make the
logo and name pop out. Along with being surrounded by a big red circle
makes the logo and name unforgettable.
