The music industry is facing significant challenges from digital disruption. Record labels' traditional business model of investing heavily in a small number of popular artists to achieve high sales volumes is becoming outdated. New digital technologies have democratized music creation and changed how people relate to and experience music. A new paradigm is emerging that could better exploit the full potential of the music market by focusing on a large number of artists and niche music genres selling in lower volumes. The proposed MYousicShare platform aims to address barriers currently facing independent musicians and better connect various music audiences, creators and markets in this new digital environment.
